The new Reign 2 looks pretty appealing. Planning to sell my Stumpy Evo (rode trails and ~20 days in the bike park) and pick up a Reign 2 (for downhill/ENDUROING) and a shorter travel/possible hardtail 29er for everything else. Probably leave DH rubber on the heavy stock wheels and pick up a lighter set for trail riding.

Has anybody ridden one in the bike park? I'd assume it'd be a lot better than my Stumpy.

Also, any reason why MSRP is $2849 CAD and $3400 USD (equivalent $4257 CAD right now)?

@luckbox

Be sure to test ride the 29er hardtail before selling the SJ evo. I almost did that switch and noticed that I liked the SJ a lot more than a hardtail.

Just keep it and get the reign or something even more bike park specific?
The SJ is a stellar trailbike.

I have a 160mm Pike on it and it rips.

From the NSMB article earlier last year: "The Giant Reign is available in two Advanced (carbon) and two Alloy models. Those prices aren’t typos – identically spec’d Reign and Reign Advanced models cost less in Canada than the US. With today’s US dollar about 15% stronger than the Loonie, that makes for significant savings North of the border. Also note that the Reign Advanced 1 comes with the same carbon front/alloy rear frame as the Advanced 0 Team, the same Pike RCT3 Dual Position Air and the same Monarch Plus RC3 DebonAir – that is outstanding value at $4199 CAD and likely where a few of us would choose to spend our money.

Reign Advanced 0 Team: $8250 USD / $7499 CAD – this was the bike we tested.
Reign Advanced 1: $4750 USD / $4199 CAD
Reign 1: $5975 USD / $5299 CAD
Reign 2: $3400 USD / $2849 CAD"

no one beats Giant on overall value and performance, imo. Reign Advanced 1 is pretty much tops on my very short list right now.

Here's my Reign Advanced 1. I've had a few great rides on it and it's everything as advertised DH. I like tech climbing as well so was a bit worried about the long, low and slack geo but it performs better than expected uphill.
Changes are:
OneUp 1x10 conversion
Chromag trailmaster saddle
Tubeless
Haven't weighed it yet. Will update when I do.

Very nice. Exactly the bike I was looking at, until I came across a deal on my Remedy 9 that I couldn't turn down.

The price discrepancy on Giant Reign's are confusing for sure, but I'm not complaining as I got a new bike for $3000 taxes in!

If you can swing it, go for the Reign Advanced 1, as the 1by drivtrain, carbon frame and better rear shock are good upgrades. That being said I'm stoked on my reign 2, the components are adequate for my needs and the geometry is dialed.

Also, it seems to be a sellers market for used enduro bikes right now so price your bike a few hundred more than you think it will sell for. I sold my enduro expert in less than a week on that other site.

Never!!!! One always needs multiple bikes. But that Patrol? should tick most of the "one bike does it all" boxes.

Damn that thing is the sexys. Starting to suss out a bike for the riding season and definitely have my eyes on the new Transition range, just wish I hadn't spent so much money here in the winter.

That Patrol 1 price would be a lot easier to stomach if I was back in Australia on my old wages haha.
