NEW BIKE DAY!

Technically finished it Friday and the first ride was yesterday, but I went out again today and the conditions were much more photo friendly :D

Coming off a Trek Slash this is quite a change but it is friggin awesome. Stoked!

I second this. A really nice looking build.

I just put together this little guy to skid some fire roads with this winter

bought it off a buddy who say's its from 1981 ish? I like the gusset under the headtube.

Has an American BB, so this old set of profiles found a new home

Built up some new rims on to an old coaster hub and a road front hub. Spoke washers to keep it extra classy

this bicycle reeks of sex.

while your sitten at your desk im banging laps.

Question about the newer Chromag Stylus frames. Will the head tube take a fork with a 1.5" steer tube?

The 44mm head tube will, but you've got to get the right headset. I ran a 1.5" Lyrik on my Stylus for a while, using a Nukeproof headset I got from CRC. Pretty sure this is the one.

Good. Then I just saved money on picking up a fork. Have a Domain I picked up for $40 tha I rebuilt and is working well.

Be warned that I couldn't find a replacement bearing for that headset, although I didn't really look too hard.

You should be able to build the same thing through CaneCreek with better/easily replaced bearings.

You need two EC44 lower cups, a crown race, and the split race/bearing cap from an EC49 upper cup (ID of Bearing and OD of cup same/same between 44 and 49 cups).

The only issue on some frames is the top cup may be too deep for the headtube, in which case you may need to have it turned down so the in-frame depth is ~ the same as a ZS 44 headset.

Anyways, I've seen it done with King EC44 cups, so CaneCreek should work perfectly.

Had a similar issue 2 years ago with a Euro BB for 3 piece Profile type cranks. Couldn't find anything local. On a whim wandered Ebay and found one from Europe.

Cool. Thanks for the info Drew.:)

No problem. Just note the obvious typo (EC44 not EC40).

Cheers.

Call me dumber, but is this not a rather old-ish Stylus? I never would have thought that the Samurai has this reinforcement thingy wedged between the seat tube and the top tube. :dizzy:
