This is not a hardtail (yet) per say, but part of a project:

Is your Berg finally ready???

wooha!

I like the seat tube cluster. Also notice the seat stays have some shaping for vertical compliance. Great looking frame.

What's with Kona? They were sucking it a few years back and it's been nothing but win for the last couple years. New people running it? New designers?

Wrong. Always.

Very cool.

Wonder if it is 135/142 compatible like the steel Honzo or 148 like the new alloy Honzo (which has no sliders?).

i imagine it will be offered as a frame only. so, making it specific to a hub standard that no one has, yet, would seem like poor planning. could a single frame accommodate all 3 with swap-outs?

Good point re. Frameset.

I think you'd have chain interference issues with stays trying to design around 135 (142) and 148?

It's 142… same as current steel model.

pretty sure the reason is chris mandell.

hoping for a boost rear on the 16 explosif to accommodate some fatter rubber.

my only complaint on my 14 and 15 has been the r tire clearance.

while your sitten at your desk im banging laps.

Well hats off to this Chris Mandell feller. Their hardtail and full suspension options are very intriguing lately.

Wrong. Always.

Chris is no longer with Kona, heard he was going to SRAM or something, can't recall 100% on where he's gone to though…

i guess it's back to this for next year, then.

this i want, however - steel honzo; available as frame only. raw finish, too:

A quick snap of my Whishart in its current form. My RF Turbine wheels took a bit of a beating so picked up some Mavic Crossmax XL wheels. According to the internet we can no longer go around corners with rims less then 50mm wide, but in the real world I find these wheels great so far. I found myself initially oversteering a bit as the wheels are significantly stiffer (double of the cost of the RF wheels to be fair though).

Out with the dorpper post as I hardly ever use it. The seatpost QR worked flawlessly the one time I used it today.

The bike is pretty well dialled for me now, although I'm still trying to track down some nice V brake levers.

the new btr ranger looks badass. same slack [HTML_REMOVED] slammed numbers, but now comes in all 3 wheel diameter iterations. pricey, tho ($2k).

Well the silver lining to the cloud of my bikes getting stolen is that I could build up this with the insurance money.

First ride on the new bike, have to say its a bit awesome! @chromagbikes #mtb by Dan and Claire Lees, on Flickr

Spec:
Chromag Rootdown Size L (got sweet deal on non-stealth dropper frame)
Pike RCT3
Hope Hoops with Stans Flow EX
Hope Headset
Chromag Fubar OSX bars, Ranger Stem, NQR Seat Clamp, Trailmaster Saddle
Reverb
SLX/XT/Zee drivetrain
Absolute Black Oval Chainring
SLX brakes
On-One Chunky Monkey/Maxxis Ardent (Minion 2.5 on it's way)
ESI Grips

After 1 ride I'm smitten. It manages to take the best qualities from my previous Ragley Blue Pig and Surly Karate Monkey.

Such a fun bike!
