Forks backwards…
Super impressed by the elevated chainstay design. Makes alot of sense for tire clearance. I quite prefer it to the diamond stay that specialized did on their 27.5+ hardtails.
Not carbon. Where did you get an aggressive steel 29r hardtail from for $154?
Ahhh steel, mine is aluminium, but my room mate just picked up a steel frame for 200 bucks…I guess you save some money when you go with lame ass aluminium and 26" wheels? Haha
I road a 29er last year, it was nice for cross country and trails, but I'd still prefer 26 or 650b when it comes to aggressive riding.

it has been nice to see a number of new bikes this year coming spec'd with manitou forks
[HTML_REMOVED]aside[HTML_REMOVED] i can probably count on two hands the number of people i have seen riding around vancouver with their fork on backwards. in all but one case i've mentioned it and offered to correct the problem and been rebuffed! last month i told a lady on the sea wall and she was relieved that her bike felt weird for a legit reason - i loosened the stem-wedge bold and twisted for fork around 180* for her, and she was so happy! it made up for all of the other creeped out looks i'd received over the years [HTML_REMOVED]/aside[HTML_REMOVED]

Thinking about getting a cheap (ish) light hardtail for xc/"trail" (god I hate that buzz word) riding, what do you guys recommend? American/Canadian brands are probably out of the question as I'm in the UK. Is a 29er too big for me at 5'9" with a 29" inside leg? Worried about standover and getting a decent seat-handlebar drop to make climbing comfortable. If so then is 650b worth it or should I cash in on cheaper "obsolete" 26" stuff?
I basically want something that climbs well that I can still descend with confidently. Don't like too much travel on a hardtail, 120mm max. I really liked my old Chameleon apart from how stiff it was. Fun geometry.

I picked up the frame from ChroMag and assembled using my copious amounts of spare parts. My wife now has a sick hard tail.
I am a little miffed that I am not a bit shorter….

hm yeah On-One are good value for money. Not sure if I want something heavy though, they're quite hefty aren't they? Wouldn't mind something aluminium tbh, so long as its a bit more forgiving than my old Chameleon haha

The new 45650b is a sick bike and won't be any heavier than the other steel options. Rides well as a 26'er too.
