Rolling on 29+ for 2015!
Only finished on Friday and only one ride on it so far but it's a really fun bike!
Not light though!

what's her weight?
It was a hair over 28lbs when I weighed it last summer but it had a 2.5" Maxxis DHF on the front then. I'd guess it would be just over 27.5lbs as in the photos. She's a keeper and will be staying in my stable for some time, such a fun bike.
Jon-boy.
6.8 lbs? that frame is heeeeeeaavy.
Same kind of tubing they used for the Stylus. Wonder what the weight on other 4130 frames in the large size would be.

Chromag quotes the Samurai frame at 5.6 lbs using True Temper and Aircraft grade 4130. 6.6 for the Stylus.
Got this near the end of last year, never owned a steel HT before my last one was alu, now I get the hype! Sooo much fun!!

This is the 1999 Hardtail Thread isn't it?
My main velocipede is out of action at Toxik Harald at the moment so I had to build up an emergency replacement. I'm surprisingly pleased with the result! 1995 S-Works M2 frame plus various bits I had lying around, trades with mates and stuff pulled out of the recycling bin at work has resulted in a 25.5lb which will destroy precisely none on the trails on the Shore. It'll get me the the dawg out though and feels like a fun little bike, much like I rode 16 years ago.

wow you are a ass

interesting. how different are the two frames geometry-wise?

So, a couple of nipples (alu) broke probably due to riding in winter conditions…de-icing salt sucks…anyways, my plan is to get another rim for the rear-wheel, since Singletrack are apparently no longer on sale, I thought I'd go
Mavic EX 721
What do you think? Plan is to use the hardtail for park this year as well.

I've been running 721's on my hardtail (same rims for 3 years) with no issues. Ride my local spot 1-2 times a week and hit up the Valley and the Shore at least once a month on this wheel set as well. Bomber rim, a little heavy but they will last you a long time.

You can still find the singletrack on Ebay.

I actually picked the second frame based on the fact that it's geo was almost identical with the first.
