Bottle opener was great for pump track, because I'd rather drink bottles than cans and at the pump track a cooler was never a problem.

It is more for an accessory. No different than the old santa cruz rear derailleurs that had a bottle opener too.
Except that my heckler was a $5k bike made of aluminum. I never once used the built in bottle opener, but have cracked many a beer off the spuds. That MRP accessory is pretty sweet.
