just to step back in time 2 years, although some parts are way older…my bike does have a couple new parts like stem and bars, new 2.5/5" gravity dropper, new dual position lyrik last year. fun bike for the ski hill but can also climb to the top too, albeit slowly. think it is around 34-35lbs. fun bike

Rebuilt the Spitty with more shimano bits (XTR shifter and rear D, XT brakes), Hope 40t, new fork and some 650 b's. Took it out for a ride on Sunday, it still rips. Can't really tell a difference between 650 and 26 but marketing tells me that I'm 0.856% slower uphill and 1.00001% faster downhill.

Phone image is slightly blurry. Last change to come is an X0 carbon crank with a 30t NSB direct mount narrow/wide ring as soon as it comes in at LBS.

I was very surprised by how much faster 650b is over 26"

There is a trail that I ride regularly that I turn Strava on to see how fast I can ride it. With consistency I was able to get 1 or 2 seconds off my time over the summer.

I switched my bike to 650b and dropped 7 seconds on a 2 and a half minute trail. I thought it was a fluke so I rode a few other trails with Strava going and I consistently dropped 5-7 seconds off my times.

I'd like to say it was because I was chainless (Mulally is the man) but but 650b rolls faster. It's almost seems like an unfair advantage.

I feel the same… I have a local descent that I like to time myself on as well…. my best time on 26" wheels was about 5'25"… switched to 27.5 and a heavier bike (same suspension components) and the time dropped to 5'05"… that's pretty significant IMO…

My race results have gotten significantly better this year on my sb66. I know, kind of a backward trend, but I'm actually quicker on this bike than a few early 650b bikes I've ridden, and a 29er I rode/raced last year. No question I'm fitter than last year, but still.

I've had some amount of time on a friends new fancy Marin Attack trail carbon thing. I am real slow on that bike, it's cramped, and feels short and high. I'm holding out for the new 650b SB frames from Yeti next year or he following. I'm a huge fan of their fit, and ride. :-)

Fit, properly tuned suspension, long and low geo=fast bike.

Side note…

I have noticed lately that I am constantly rolling away from riders on the trail, whether they are on either 26", 27.5", or 29" wheels it doesn't matter. I'm trying to figure it out. Maybe Hope hub bearings roll fast? Halp?

That wouldn't surprise. I really want to swing a leg over one of those, such a cool looking bike
