I hear rumours that Sram are going to make the Monarch Plus available in direct mount.

On a related note, my lbs today received a Specialized bike box with sticker reading "L 650b Stumpjumper EVO[HTML_REMOVED]#8230;". Must be the local rep's bike, wonder when it'll be announced.

I don't think they'll make too much of a hooha about it to be honest. The R[HTML_REMOVED]D guys are meh about 650b and the new Stumpy is just around the corner.

SPY SHAWTZ REQ'D!!!!OMGWTFBBQ!!!

Mostly for the laughs over spec's 29-or-die stance. Although the between the lines is that 26" high performance stuff is maybe being forced obsolete by component companies - let me just grab my tinfoil hat.

Check my stuff for sale!

More like dealers weren't going to order 26" no matter how good the bike. The hype train has left the station.

Well, now my 2014 26" Stumpjumper Carbon expert Evo is officially obsolete, before the 2014 season even starts.

Bummer.
I suppose it'll still ride great.
The Xt brakes are really cool spec. Surprisingly I really like the x7 trail discs so far.
After my previous Avid experience I thought I had to pull them from the start. Then gave them a try and liked them…

I wanted to get a 26" Enduro for 2015. might have to get a 650b then…

Strange that PB has an article about it up today and NSMB doesn't.

Yeah, I felt the same pain after my SB66C was obsolete-ized.

I still manage to enjoy riding. I soldier on.

Yeah, I feel your pain…. my Intense Carbine even though it can be run 26 or 27.5 is on its way out even though I have only owned it for a few months. I give a great big raspberry out to the mtb manufacturers. They can screw with wheel size, kinematics, etc., but our enjoyment is clearly not predicated on their marketing.

Other than the comedy value of the Specialized u-turn it's not really news though is it? The only 26" wheel mountain bike we sell at work is a womens specific one. For good or bad, Specialized don't have a choice.
