NSMB - 2014 Enduro / Trail Bike Thread
Couldn't resist, got a cracking deal on a frame only purchase, so got shot of the E29, as much as I liked it, it niggled me for a few things.
Built it up from bits of that, and raided the spares box. Just waiting for a Magic Mary for the front and I'm done. Currently 28.2lbs, but that's with 2 a Super Gravity tyres on. I'll lose a pound in them when these come off.
Got the Magic Mary yet? What do you think of the MM/RR tire combo? I'd love to try that set up, but it's so wet here so much of the time…
Ride, don't slide.
Love the Ad Hoc. Interested in a ride report.
That looks sweet! Buy one and do your own ride report.

love these tires. the rr is fastest rolling rear i've used since the semislick xc days, and it hooks up surprisingly well, even on wet shore trails (i'm sure it'd suck in any real mud though). it will drift around more in some (loose) conditions of course, but the big shoulder knobs seem to keep things reigned in at higher lean angles. though i've not worn them down yet, i'm assuming grip levels will decrease rapidly when the small knobs start to wear down.
the mm is a grip monster in a variety of conditions, unsurprisingly. shoulder knobs are showing small tears after only a couple weeks, though. will see how that propagates (whether they actually start coming off). they set up nicely tubeless, and the super gravity casings are burly; added thickness near the bead gives near dh tire carcass stability, at a good bit lighter weight. can run pretty low pressure with these.
so yeah. tires work great, but will most likely have lifespans on the shorter side.
Ready to rip!!! The build went smooth except for the internal rear brake hose routing which was a b!tch. I am pretty impressed with the build quality and attention to detail. Nice touches that you only see on handbuilt frames these days.
Sick! You'll love it. I'm still like a gushing bride whenever I ride my Adhoc. I especially like the geometry. Modern to the tits!
One of the best parts: although it is a steel and aluminum combo, it still comes in at a relatively light weight. Mine is 30lbs 3oz with lots of room to spare to shave weight. Same as a lot of carbon bikes.
^cool bike, sir. i love how they're retaining some of the original balfa ideology / aesthetic.
Mine is just a hair over 28lbs.
Nice looking rid Rob….can't wait to hear how you like it.

For good reason. Hugo Bardou, the Prez of Xprezo, was one of the original founders of Balfa.
28lbs is dreamy, For mine to get there I'd have to spend a couple of grand since I have no carbon bits on it. I think it would be less expensive and more advantageous to drop a few pounds of lard from my arse.

I basically swapped all the parts off my Intense Carbine. Nothing stupid light on the build or anything that I think is a compromise.
First ride report:
In a nutshell this bike is f*ing rowdy. That's the best word to describe it. It climbs well with the steep seat angle, nothing odd to report. I ended up climbing for about 2 hours today and it was stellar. However, things get really good when you hit the downs. I have a BOS Kirk shock and in combination with the suspension design, geometry, low BB, long front centre, this thing just rails corners, eats up chunder and attacks the steeps. Honestly, I don't want to sound like a marketing brochure, but its that GOOD… it feels like my Intense M9 the way it can plow through stuff. Direction changes and cornering are amazing. So easy to move around on the trail and pop up and over obstacles.
Don't know what the boys in Bromont have cooked up with regards to suspension alchemy but they got it bang on in my opinion. Well done Xprezo… this bike has single-handedly made my summer.

Totally! My feelings exactly. They hit it with the geometry on this bike. The lowly old single pivot strikes again eh? ;)
