NSMB - 2014 – Downhill / Free-Ride Bike Thread

This thread is dedicated to the Downhill / Free-Ride Bike.

Downhill bikes have morphed over the years into light weight low slung land missiles used to smash berms and send it. Free-Ride bikes still live but it’s getting harder every year to spot them on the trails and in bike shops.

Use this thread to post up your Downhill / Free-Ride Bike and discuss away.

Feel free to share some details on your set-up, weight or whatever makes it special to you.

Same as last year.

Put a Ti spring on and a 35mm stem and bar.

Mine's currently the same as last years..

I'm gonna change the forks on it soon though and can't decide Lyrik, Totem or Boxxer.. I get quite a few pedal strikes with the 55 so I'm thinking maybe the Totem to get it a bit higher. Think the Boxxer might limit it even more, but the best feeling fork I've had was an older boxxer so dunno!

I want to strip off all the cheesy graphics and get some clean Scott decals for it as well.

I'm about to swap my Demo for an XL Transition TR500 with 650b wheels. I believe it will be awesome. I also believe it will be the first DH bike that will fit me.

^ The best fork I had on that frame was a 160mm 36. 180mm/200mm were just too tall. Maybe you need more spring, possibly front and back? I've got an 8.5x2.5 RP23 tuned for the Voltage if you're interested in doing the air shock thing with it.

Fasia, what bar/stem combo is that? Looks pretty high compared to the usual slammed business

Why slag free swag?:rolleyes:

ummm, as your doctor i recommend against riding with a scaphoid fracture.

800mm long 35mm Nukeproof Warhead setup. Bars have 20mm rise. Might be the angle if the previous photo. I'm also going for the World Cup trend of higher front ends (cuz I'm fast like those guys;) )

Must be the drop crown, but the stem looks higher as well.

BZA = -15mm, Havoc = -5mm

Ed. Deleted the pic, so we didn't get all Rangey like last time
