Never looked at it that way, but yeah, makes perfect sense to me too. Now all I have to do is to get rid of my armchair on wheels and switch back to a well sorted HT.

I fear you may be new to chromags if you think you will ride slower and take less risks on one……

It is the opposite. Open face. no pads. skinny(er) tires and a steel hard tail that rails everything u have the nuts to point it at. Just don't get it wrong.

Yeah, he apparently had machined and screwed on a new BB interface because the old one kept breaking. What's the worst that could happen.

this. they may not have the capability of a bigger fully, but they definitely make you feel like you could tackle anything if you have the skills/stones

Right now I am thinking along the lines of "hmmm….let's buy a 66 for my Stylus for next year's trip to Are Bikepark, Sweden….it would be awesome in a bike park" Not that I have the skills tho.

Chromags absolutely rock.

Is thinking of running a single 32T with 9 speed rear possible? Do I need a front derailleur and bash guard to keep the chain on?

Get a chain guide of some sort. The ht gets the chain bouncing around too much. I tried running 1x9 on the Transition Trans-Am I had for awhile and it sucked without a guide.

Maybe with a shadow plus or the new SRAM equivalent you can do without. I gots no chain dropping issues on my 2 x 10 set ups both with the XTR plus. Whereas before I did. YMMV

Debate? Bikes are made for riding not pushing.
