what other maxxis tires use the same casing as the ikon? the 2.35" is enormous!
Ardent 2.4 has the same 61mm casing in both 29 and 27.5
It's a decent tire as well: taller, wider knobs for a bit more bite and support. Rides far better than its 2.25 sibling. That being said, there is a better (safer!) option from Maxxis in the 29 size: Minion DHF 2.5

the DHF 2.5 is appealing, surely it must be the most boss front tire for trail bashing out there. but wot a weight penalty, like a 1/4 pound of additional rolling rubber compared to the HD or MM for example. is it worth it in your experience? i'm guessing you're gonna feel that in tight turns, man that's a heavy tire.
