MTB shoes are Fugly!!

Not that it really matters…form should follow function…but why is it that no one can make a decent looking MTB shoe?
They are either dark versions of road shoes, over-protective [HTML_REMOVED] klunky wannabe skater rigs, or they're "sensible" Nurse Ratchet clogs.

Personally, I find the Vans Klassic lace-ups to be awesome flat pedal downhillers (less the protection), but they were designed for skating….over 30 years ago! Surely the bike industry has something that isn't butt ugly, but isn't $800 [HTML_REMOVED] featured in Flare magazine.

510's are great for rock climbing, but they do not beat my Vans for stiction on the downhills (on flats) [HTML_REMOVED] style points at the pub…plus, (the chicks sez so) the Vans are sexier.

Clarification for the sensitively serious: as well as making MTB shoes, 510 make good climbing shoes using Stealth rubber. That is no-nonsense.

FYI…it's a fact….my 510's suck on my flats….my Vans are better. Pure function. Prove me wrong.

Agree to disagree. My 510's float on my flats. My Vans stick like a lab on a tennis ball.
I'll let you try 'em out. Maybe I have the wrong 510's…but they cost me over $100…my Vans were $60. Where did I go wrong?
