Guys….Truvativ sells both 26 and 28t rings. To save a bit of weight, you just need to do a bit of drillium surgery. I haven't done it yet as it's not on my priority list.

Kperras - What is that tire on the back of your riot? And what size is it? I'm currently looking for a slightly knobbier tire in the back for my riot and tire clearance is looking pretty tight.

White is right. Also, that's a full length 350mm masterpiece post. I could shave another lb off this bike pretty easily, but its already stupid light.

What do most of you guys run for crank length? 175mm? I've got a set of 165mm cranks, but I'm thinking about switching to some 175mm cranks.

Let's hear some of the pros and cons for 175mm cranks.

Pro
Longer leverage

Cons
Less ground clearance
Slower spinning

Scale update coming soon on the pink pearl.

I'm using 170mm stylos. Oh and the back tire is a specialized Captain Control 2.1, tons of clearance.

Alright, my Specialized P2 currently sits in at around 29.7 lbs. Specs are P2 alloy frame, Rock Shox Pike 426, Mavic 721 front wheel, Atom Lab GI rear wheel, Truvativ Stylo Cranks, Single Speed setup, Race Face Post / Bar, Hussefelt stem, Avic Juicy 3 rear brake.

I'm not gonna post a scale shot because I'm too lazy and I'll completely overhaul the bike very soon. That being said, I think that 29.7 lbs is very reasonable for a bike with no silly parts.

22.97lbs now, well that's just ridiculous. That's about 3.1kg lighter than my current setup. I'm hoping to bring the weight down to 25lbs once all the new stuff is in but 23… jesus.

Shorter = slower out of the gate. It's ALL about the gate!

You forgot weight as a pro/con. I would have run 165s if they were available. Free weight savings.

I'm not that fast out of the gate, so I'm going with that excuse too.

My pink pearl isn't that light anyways. All solid and reliable parts. The 165 XT's are staying on in the meantime mainly because of the dollar factor. Maybe 175 Race Face Deus or newer 175 XT later on.
