MEC Brake Authority Disc Brake Pads... Anyone tried them?

My wife's front brake has absolutely no stopping power. I have bled the brakes, and they feel good, however the power isn't on par with the rear brake. Looking for some replacements I saw some "Brake Authority" brakes at MEC. I haven't seen this line at MEC before, and can't find any reviews. Anyone tried them?

I know I can get factory replacement pads but I am wondering if there is something that is cheaper and just as good or better.

Any help is appreciated:)

I have had them on my bike since last summer, fitted in a set of Juicy 3's with 203mm rotors. They have been fine, I'm not a particularly fast or hard rider but I only have one bike so they get used a lot, daily for the commute, mtbing on burnaby mountain and the odd shore ride too. Haven't had any issues with them yet.

Brake pads are brake pads. What kind of brakes are they? This could have more to do with the lack of power than anything else…

if you switch the current pads front to back, does anything change?

sounds like a good way to contaminate both sets of pads/discs…

clean the rotors with rubbing alcohol and replace both sets of pads. OEM or aftermarket, so long as they're sintered metal.

I've gotta disagree. The old MEC pads sucked bad. I tried them on both Avids and Hayes and on both they had bad power and wore out fast compared to the sintered OEM pads.

However, I put on a set of the MEC "Brake Authority" pads on my bro's bike (Shimano Deore Hydraulics) and so far they seemed pretty good power wise, too early to tell on durability though.

Juicy 7's, so power shouldn't be a problem. I think that I will give the MEC pads a go:) Thanks everyone for your help!
