Yeah that's a problem. Not sure how they'll ever get around that. Sure the cage can be engineered better but how do you get around the need for lots of magnets?

When a magnet is hammered or dropped, the vibrations caused by the impact on the magnet randomize the magnetic molecules within the magnet, forcing them out of order and destroying the long-range order of the unit magnet.

Magnets are fragile, and with grit, they will wear down really fast (even if they haven't lost their magnetism). They won't offer any float, are heavy, expensive and don't do a good job of fixing an issue that doesn't even exist.
This is a bad idea for several reasons already noted.
To add to the quickly growing pile:
Assuming the magnets are strong enough to keep a person attached, without unwanted release through high speed chunk, it also means that when you do try to take your foot off the pedal, you risk your foot getting sucked back onto the pedal unintentionally due to the incredibly strong magnets.
I am generally all for innovation in cycling, but this is seriously a shitty attempt at fixing a problem that doesn't exist.
I'm waiting for a magnet system to help me whip like Cruz and Iles.
I swear half the stuff on Kickstarter is absolute crap. There's a reason you're awesome idea isn't getting traction. It's because it sucks.

10% backed. that's surprising, considering the 360 degrees of power are in the wrong direction, and purple chromo axles!
Clipless pedals are good because you are attached to your bike (duh!) and you can get more power out of a pedal stroke.
Flat pedals are good because you aren't attached to your bike (double duh!).
So I can't figure out why taking an spd and a flat and making each less capable is a good thing, in addition to adding a bunch of weight.
