Looks like Sam Hill and the crew are running 1.5 rise bars on their Dh bikes and bars around the 730mm width. The Renthall gear does look solid though.

Good vid on the team's Renthall stuff on Sick lines.

Yeah, it's pretty funny. Not much weight-weenyism either, with many Pro bikes coming in at 37-40lb mark.

really low and really wide for everyone doesn't really make sense. really it's all about experimenting with what feels the best for you and your bike - and what trails you ride. whatever combination of bar width and height that puts you in a strong, controlled position on the bike is the best one.

we are back to a middle of the road, I asked Sam what he was running at Fort Bill and he said 735.

The low front end only works for the uber strong crowd.

why would you want a down hill race bike to be light?

I take it you never raced a fat boy downhill with skateboards.

Its all in relation to your bike's BB height and your size. I see tall guys with super low front ends and they just don't look comfy on their bikes, but hey, trendy stuff always wins out.

(warning: moto reference)

On dirtbikes, usually you want your handlebar height a little higher than stock. It forces you stand, or makes standing much easier. Its funny, now that I get on my mtb, it feels way too low for descending, to point where its not comfortable. I've actually switched some HS spacers around to increase the height.

Because you can't push at 40km/h on a skateboard.

When you are that fast, it doesn't matter how much your bike weighs.

god, when will people realize that spawnzored riders take whatever the companies give them for free?

Better go buy some Renthal! Time to toss out the Chromag bar I just got tomorrow.

I would be very interested in seeing what every rider would prefer to ride. On a sidenote, what is the point of riser bars? And don't say to raise the riding position because the same could be accomplished with a flat bar and spacers under the stem.

Spacers under the stem work great if the steertube is long enough…

Yeah of course but I'm looking for an answer along the lines of a riser bar is stiffer etc. Which is more than likely the case
