Loose bead

I posted this in the old fashioned tire thread but I’ve not had any comments.

So I was about to put the Assegais back on my hardtail last night and in preparation I was wiping the dried sealant off the beads with a rag. I discovered that the Kevlar strands in the bead were not adhered to the inside of the bead. I could sort of bunch up the tire as I wiped the bead. That can’t be right can it? Maybe that’s why the tires were wobbly?

How old is the tire? Sounds like it may be finished.

I’ve warrantied a couple of Maxxis tires that have gone wobbly. Just fill out their online form. They are great to deal with.

+1 on warranty. Maxxis was so great to deal with for warranty issues, that I wouldn't consider a different brand of tire at this point.

Never considered warranty. Can’t hurt to ask.

Just put on brand new minions. Back tire split open at the bead yesterday Sealent was ineffective. Major bummer was just riding a fun flow trail. Hope Maxxis will warranty.

Go with a wire bead, use a tube, don't ride Maxxis. End of problems, IMO.
