Hello,

Here is a beam shot for the qurious ones

What camera settings were used for that photo? Do you have photos of any other lights that were taken with the same settings?

Also, you will never get 900 lumens and 4+ hours of runtime from a current bin SSC P7 and a 7.4V 5000mAh battery. If you are lucky, you might be able to get 900 emitter lumens (at start up), but unless your circuitry is 110% or more efficient then you won't get 4+ hours.

My apologies if that seems overly harsh. On the bright side, the price is reasonable and the harness for wearing it as a headlamp looks good.

"Due to the overwhelming interest for my Amoeba light as of late, my lead times are currently 2-3 weeks! YIKES, I know, that is crazy! I have a full time job and a family and only build lights on the weekends so my capacity has it limits.

I would like to say sorry to all of those MagicShine owners contacting me trying to get a light right away, I feel for you. If you can wait, I can guarantee that the wait will be worth it. "

Part list:

Supplier - Digikey
Cree XP-G LED (2 [email protected]) - $22.46
Regina Reflector (2 [email protected]) - $2.64
Backlit Momentary Switch - $9.83
Hammond Aluminum Box - $14.78
Shipping - $8.00
Total (incl. HST) $64.64

Supplier - DealExtreme
5.4mm Extension Cable(100cm) $3.14
Y-Cable(for light head and battery power connections) $3.13
Li-Ion 18650 Battery Charger $7.52
TrustFire Protected 18650 2400mAh (2-Pack)([email protected]) - $28.71
Professional Thermal Heat-Sink Compound - $2.68
Total - $45.20

Supplier - Luminous DIY
Compact 6x 18650 Battery Holder - $25.94 (incl. shipping)

Supplier - TaskLED
b2flex LED Driver - $38.81 (incl. shipping)

Grand Total: $174.59 (I'll need to pick up a small chunk of alu. angle to mount the LED's)

So, at the end of the day yeah it's more than the Magicshine lights, but less than everything else out there. I splurged on the battery holder, and the backlit switch, both could probably be had much cheaper. There are also much much cheaper LED drivers, though they won't support as high of a current, have voltage sensing or temp. sensing.

I made a new thread showing the DIY build of my light. Here's the link for those interested!

For the UBC Endowment Lands , would a 200 lumen Light [HTML_REMOVED] Motion Stella 200 be enough ? I have one for commuting [HTML_REMOVED] it throws just enough light for me to see the potholes on dimly lit side streets . It obviously isn't enough for the Shore , but is it enough for a mellow ride through UBC ?
