How many/what set-up are people running with the magicshines? Seems for most the single 900 is not enough?

if you're paying $300 or more for a light, it can be harder to afford more then one light…but when a light is only $100 why wouldn't you run two?

I think most people run 2 as it is a much better set-up, no matter which light your running.

having a light die on you halfway through a ride is NOT fun. i'd say even if you don't run two, make sure you have a fully charged backup light in your pack. those little headlamps are not enough to get down a trail.

I ride with such intensity that the sparks from my drivetrain light up the night.

I've found one magicshine on the helmet to be plenty for any trail riding, but I throw two more on my dirtbike and the three together seems to put out more than my my streetbike's highbeam. Tested up to around 100km/h on FSR with complete confidence, that's a lot faster than I will ever do on a mtb.

I usually put one on the mtb handlebars too, though, just to have a spare, and it does make riding a bit easier - you can still look way down the trail but see what your wheels are going over out of your peripheral vision. With only one on the lid I find myself looking down at the front wheel a lot, rather than down the trail.

Ordered several times from Geoman, every time I get hit for some fees at the border, the amount seems to vary with who checks it at customs but generally tax/duty/extra shipping fees from Canada Post ?!?? was adding about 10% to orders. Always got a bunch of friends together to order a pile of them at once.

Great service from Geoman too, they have warrantied stuff for me that I didn't think deserved a warranty, despite my full disclosure to them about battery abuse.

The helmet light will light up what you are looking at, which is normally your far field. The bar light will light up and fill in the area close to your bike. I have a Magicshine 1400 on the bar and a 900 on helmet and it's a ridiculous amount of light. You could get away with just the helmet light, but it would be a compromise, and at under $250, the price is awesome.

The 1400 main light is similar to the 900, but the 'ear' lights give it a very wide spread, which is what makes it awesome for stuff close up.
I will get some beam shots up sometime soon.

using the same setup, in a word 'fantastic!' I like the big light on the bars as it offers the wider light dispersion and then the smaller on my helmet!

I now have the sudden urge to go night riding again tonight!!!

Just ordered up 3 sets of the 900..hopefully they're here in time for the Halloween ride!

The battery is in a sealed plastic cylinder, about 4" long and 2" wide with a large elasticated velcro strap.

Got out for a ride last night with my little home made guy.

It rocks. Gets a wee bit hotter than I would like when climbing at a snails pace in granny gear on tech climb, but fire road climbing would be fine.

Theoretical it's 1100 lumens but real world is about 900 after losses. Need to get on assembling it's mate this weekend.
