My SS X2 quit on me really quick on the trail. I thought it was the batteries but testing them at home they are both good for a solid 2:20. I'm not too sure what's going on but for $50 you don't seem to get 100% reliability.
Lights - 2015-16 season (split from the 2014 thread)
$50?? y u pay so much? Usually $25. I wouldn't be too surprised by failures of these units; they're certainly not well sealed against moisture. though my 2 units are still running strong into their second season.
I have 5 sets of the SSX2 s, no problems with any of them over the last year.
I did spray the battery packs with Plastidip as I'd heard that they weren't all that waterproof.

From a few pages back IF you have a Bell Super
Some pretty slick CNC'd Go Pro mounts for Solarstorm x2, Magicshine etc which work for the Bell Super factory GP mount.

Found him on MTBR.
I also ordered some go pro handle bar mounts and used these adapters for the SS 2 on the bars.
No more o-rings:)
Installed.
Nice, thanks for the heads up. Just did a bulk order (34 lights for 23 people) for mounts and lights. Will post setup when they arrive.
Just ordered a set of these. If there as good as you guys say for the price, if I get a season out of them I'll be stoked
Been using the cheap magicshines which work OK but the rubber band system suuuuuxxxx.
amen. i've busted the plastic bracket on both of my lights. anyone found an easy-to-source better bracket/mounting system?

People always ask me what's the phenomenon
Yo what's up? Yo what's goin' on- Adam Yauch
No fins equal not enough of a heatsink .
has anyone used an extension cable from solar storm lights on magicshine lights? my magicshines are still going strong but the extension cable is unreliable.

Three years with out issue, have a problem with one of the lights, turned out to be a sub par soldering job. Cant complain got three years out of the system, twice a week usage through the dark days. Replaced them with SS X2, so much lighter. About the same brightness as two MJ808E I had on the helmet.

Needed to make sure the mount was rigid enough, but not so rigid that it becomes a safety hazard in the event of a crash to the helmet (I don't think a metal mount with metal screws is a good idea).
I've been running the machined aluminum mounts for a few months now and can safely say it's not a safety hazard. I got tired of constantly adjusting the light with the supplied O-rings. Each to their own however……………
Does anyone know the differnces between the various X2s @ Lightmalls? There are a variety for the same price with varying emitters - and same batteries - for the same price. What's the scoop on XML-T6 vs. XM-L U2 vs. XP-L V5?
