Bump. What is everyone running for this dark season? Those lightmalls have me interested rather than dropping a few hundred on lights. Long term thoughts on those anyone?

Word on the street is that Nitefighters are the ticket this year. Powerful lights, good battery and good cost. Bicyclehub working on getting them.

$60 a piece on Amazon right now for the bt40. Did some quick research, tons of happy people and a good price. Definitely a contender for my money.

I'm still running old magicshines from geomangear but I just saw they have their own website now and are hugely expensive!

Ordered another 5 sets of solarstorm X2's from lightmalls as they were on sale for about USD$20 a set (including battery and charger for each). For that price, I didn't care if a few were crap, incredible value. But all 5 sets worked fine out of the box anyhow. All in, 5 x dual LED systems cost less than my original Nighthawk 10W (?) single halogen cost back in the early 90's, but about a thousand times brighter. Can't imagine bothering with a "name brand" system again, these are a cheap commodity now.

^haha, that's quite the bundle. how many you run at once? hard to resist at that price. my two x2's from last year are still running fine. may grab an x3 because more lumens (and so damn cheap).

I didn't love the X3, it felt like the same power divided between 3 emitters instead of 2 and was actually a bit dimmer than the X2. Also noticeably heavier on the helmet.

good intel. was going to mount it on the bar, but if there isn't a significant improvement i won't bother.

what I have noticed is you need alot more lumens to make a difference after your running a modern LED 1 helmet 1 handlebar set up that can put out over 1000 each

not really worth the extra weight IMO

I really like the magicshine 1600 lumen jobs and I run a 3/4 power did 100 days commuting in the rain last year without issue. I did run 4000 lumens trail riding one day and cant say it was mind blowing

Also running X2s, +1. Batteries in these are el-cheapo, I'm slowly replacing with panasonic 18650s.

You'll all be crying when those battery chargers burn your houses down.

"Size of a small coffee can", who wants that on their head???

Freedom of contract. We sell them guns that kill them; they sell us drugs that kill us.

That's the bt70, the bt40 is much smaller and 1600lm, which is what I am looking at for helmet and bar.
