Without reading this entire thread. I need some lights, so i can start riding at night. Riding the woodlot and bear. What works well and isn't a fortune. 2-3 run time would be nice.

This on the head is sufficient for most trails: http://store.dunbarcycles.com/gemini-duo-led-light-system-1500-lumens/dp/106113 If you want more burn time get the 4-cell battery.

Or go to lightmalls.com and order up 10 sets of the Solarstorm x2's for the same price as the single set of Gemini's that craw suggested. Use one on the bars, one on the head, and have 8 spares.

Seriously, you won't find better bang for the buck than the solarstorms

edit - beat me to the punch kendaf. but yeah.

^my god that's expensive. or you could get the same led's in a solarstorm x2 for $24 a set. pick up a spare set or 2 for the bars, and you're blazing for cheap.

i don't really need another set but for under $30 shipped i'm willing to buy a set just to see what they're like.

I just received an eBay special. $25 for 3 LED unit with battery. Claims 2000 lumens. Insanely bright and even if it only lasts a season it's a smoking deal.

all the bits are included. battery, charger, and mount. i'm running two sets of these (purchased last year). so far, so good. silly value. makes you scratch your head about the margins on the multi-hundred dollar systems. yes, sealing [HTML_REMOVED] build quality is better, but by magnitudes of ~10x, considering they use the same emitters?.

The only gripe I have is that the 4 cell battery doesn't last that long (~1.75hr), but I rarely run it on full power. Low for climb, medium for most descents. They are really bright and have a nice beam pattern.

That and the bright battery indicator lights on the back are super bright and kind of annoying, sharpie or tape fixes that though

I'm running two of these on my bars:

So far during 1.5 hour rides there's been no sign of them fading at all but I only use one light on the dimmest setting when I'm climbing. I'm also using an old BLT on the helmet but the battery is a pig. For another 30 bucks, I'll probably order another set for my lid.

If someone is interested, I've got a couple Niterider Storm lights I would like to sell.
