Lefty Recall

I would imagine it would be quite a bitch to maneuver the wheel around to get the tire off and stuff while it was still attached to the bike. I've never tried it, and it's possible, but I bet it's easier when you have the wheel free and in your lap.

Question: what do you do if you toast the front wheel on it? What if the hub needs rebuilding? Or are you talking about bolt on vs QR?

well obviously you don't nedd to take off the front wheel to change a tire

if you toast the front wheel you build another one just like any other bike ,the manufacturer is on the same continent as you , parts/bikes /whatever comes by ups in however long that takes from eastern U.S.

from a tech perspective the cannondale dealer has a special axle to put the wheel into a park truing stand

So I guess you people should never fly in a plane because they use the same technology on there landing gear.

well…landing gear failure does happen, but, a airplanes landing gear is a lot more
robust than the lefty, they don't rely on just the staunchion to keep it straight
and true. Landing gear also doesn't have to many side loads comparative to what
a bike goes through off road.

And if your spindle snaps on your car its not the best thing just having 3 other ones. Tire goes one way car the other. I know it happened to me.

As with the AP landing gear, a cars suspension is a lot more robust and is more
akin to the rear triangle of a bike (four bar). The spindle assembly is also far more
robust but they to do fail, especially on off road vehicles that are acutally taken
off road.

I'm not dissing on the leftys' engineering, just saying that that was a bad
comparison. I still think they look "wrong", and as I've said before, that is my
hang up.

I don't know about you but when I ride my bike I am looking ahead at the trail not down at my fork. Once you start your ride you forget all about it and enjoy the ride. If I were to get an XC bike it would be a nice Cannondale with a Lefty.

Being an agoraphobic adrenaline junkie would be pretty convenient, because you could get your rush from just going to the store to get some milk instead of having to jump off a mountain or out of an airplane.

they also call me "balloon"

I don't actually ride my bike, it just sits in my living room and I look at it all day.

in europe there were lots of motorized scooters that would use a lefty on the front of the bike and a righty on the rear ,the big BMW and lots of exotic cafe racer type bikes use a 1 strut system for the rear and thats with all the power pulling that wheel to the drive side

so the problem is not the single strut design … its not being able to handle 1 strut
