I heard directly from Crank Brothers that they are releasing a redesigned 4" drop Joplin sometime this summer.
The new design will address the issue with "play".

??? Seems like a fair review
Your completely correct Lee. My comment was completely NSMB-directed partisanship.

Just took my Specialized Command Post back to the lbs for a refund… too bad they wet the bed on this post because it has a lot of potential, but fundamental flaws. With the Joplin and Command Post reliability issues I went back to my trustworthy Gravity Dropper post… its not elegant or trick or whatever, but it damn well works every single time without complaints… nuff said.
What happened with your command post GladePlayboy?

I have not been able to give up on the one I am riding. It does so many things better then my Joplin (locks in place, doesn't twist as much, 4" of adjustment is perfect…) for a tiny weight penalty (it's heavier). If it would just hold air!!!!!
It leaks like a…
Specialized's fix is to add fork oil to the post but no one seems to be able to tell me how that will help so I am left taking my post to Suspension Werx to see if James can fix Specialized's shoddy quality control.
I cannot wait for Fox or Rockshox to put something out.

Oh Yeah, the Fox Salad, Saddle Adjust Lower At Descent
Debate? Bikes are made for riding not pushing.
Haha…then I could toss a salad on my bike!

It wouldn't hold air for more than 30 minutes during a ride… that sucked… And Specialized wouldn't admit they had quality control issues with the post, just said to switch to lighter weight oil to decrease stiction…huh??? I decided the refund route was the best option… maybe the 2010 version will actually work as advertised.
That's not the first time I have heard of that….hope they fix it.
Just ordered a Gravity Dropper, I guy I work with had one before on his bike that got stolen, he swears by it and he just had the basic one. I am trying out the Gravity Dropper Turbo, I'll let you know how it works for me.
The Gravity Dropper looks a decent design with "fixed" drop positions but I can't get over how butt ugly it is!

I'm going for function over fashion on this one, all the other designs seem to have too many issues still.

I have the GD Turbo… great post and reliable… and too many people are concerned about the aesthetics… I would rather have an "ugly" functional GD post than a bling bling POS from other unnamed manufacturers.
I have the 3" drop version and custom drilled a stop at 1.5" which made the post way better IMO… I don't need the full drop 90[HTML_REMOVED]#37; of the time and the 1.5" cruiser position is awesome for undulating terrain. You can also get a replacement inner post from GD for about $30 if you needed to..they are a great company to deal with support wise.
