So should we from now on refer to what was once a "7/7 Freeride" bike as "Mini DH"? Just so I get my nomenclature right. It seems like a Mini-DH bike has all the negatives of a proper race bike but without the travel?

you know i actually prefer the term freeride over mini dh but its seems like the industry is so obsessed with the terms "downhill" and "world cup" that they have abandoned any freeride labeling. Freeride makes the most sense to me because that what my buddies and i do. I would like to see more bikes like the intense ss2. A bike that i think most agree has all the positives of a proper race bike but with less travel. I would imagine that intense does pretty well with that bike but many manufactures don't have a similar model. Seems to be a big jump between semi-downhillable all mountain bike and world cup downhill bike. SO in the spirit of the thread i would love to see any new 6" or 7" freeride bikes at interbike

Mini-dh bikes excite me. When I hear of a freeride bike all I can think of is a confused XC bike: lots of travel but steep head tube and high bottom bracket - good riddance.
