Hey!

Ok the big plan this summer is to buy a scream to replace my joker while out in vancouver!:D

I'd be buying it directly from the good people at Banshee… but how should I build it up?

ok so the only reall options are choice of fork, and rear shock, as I'd be going for the Gucci build wich coveres all the other parts.

so what fork? (not monsters, not a fan of the 2004 monsters)

and what rear shock?

oh and any parts I should put some money away for to upgrade whats there if it's not up to scratch? Oh and I want a chain guide at the front so what works best with banshee, but doesn't cost too much ideally!?

I ride mainly freeride with drops and jumps, looking to go bigger harder faster this summer, and I am a bit of a bike breaker.

thanks!

Keith

oh thats another point… what actually are the fork options? for the Gucci build?

I know that as far as rear shocks go, it's the 5th element or the fox RC.

Romic and a Shiver….

888 if u want a tad more fork and more money to spend…

p.s. for a chain device thats cheap why not consider a dual bash guard setup…
it works the same and cost like 40$…. bit noisy thou…due to chain slap…

hope that helps…

my friends riding a 888r on his 03 banshee.

get the 5th element. but ask if it would be possible for an AVY or a manitou swinger 4 or 6-way. (if you wanna spend some $ for some amasing rear shocks)

oh and the chain guide thinger. the eNVy chain gang will fit on the Banshees. http://www.envygear.com/products/chaingang.html

Agreed. Romic works, and requires less maintenance. Shiver is pretty much a lightweight Monster.

I have a couple more questions… compairing shiver DC with 888r?

Whats the turning circle like on both? I'm comming from riding an old monster which had a great turning circle, unlike the boxxer.

What about strength, will they both take big hits in their stride?

How much more likely am I to scratch the stanchions on the shivers due to them being inverted?

How much maintenance do they both need?

How well are they set up when bought? I'm looking for forks that are stiff and progressive, and don't top out! How easy are they to adjust?

If possible a good option would be to just buy the Scream at On Top in Nrth Van. They will have a lot of the options you're looking at built up right there on the sales floor. You can ride the diff setups and check it outfirst hand.

My Banshee has a Shiver with Fox RC. If you can get one with a Swinger instead of 5th Element I'd do it in a sec. My '04 Giant DH has the SPV slider+ and 6-way swinger. Best set up I have ever felt. That combo on the Scream would be sweet!!!:thepimp: Gotta trust me dude, My families from Scotland(Dunoon):D Never been there thou:(

Pretty good. Boxxer isn't good, and Sherman is worse.

Most definitely.

Shouldn't be any worse since it has stanchion guards.

888 is new, so hard to tell. Marzocchi forks tend to require less maintenance than Boxxers or Shermans.

They usually ship with insufficient oil. Top them up to the correct height, and you'll be good to go.

888 is a tall fork - taller than the Shiver. Shiver is inverted, so would feel lighter.

I run a Shiver with an RC. Shiver I think, complements the bike nicely. As long as you run guards scratches are no problem.

For the rear I would say the Romic or the RC. For some reason I'm not too crazy about the 5th. Just feels too dead if that makes sense.
