How did it come to this?

I've been away for 6 months.

Both my bike and truck were in storage. My bike needed new brakes and a tune up (seems that my callipers & levers seized). The truck needed 2 news tires (which I knew about) and a tune up also.

The bike cost me more!

Something seems wrong with this picture.

Price on parts/labour for each one?

If it's a smaller truck not needing big tires and you got higher level brakes for the bike I can see how the bike would have been more expensive.

Bike tires are absurdly expensive. The standard argument is that it's not fair to compare "cheap" car/truck tires to high end bike tires, rather you should compare to racing tires etc. Still bogus given how little material there is in a bike tire, real answer is volume of sales, number of SKUs etc. is tiny on bike tires compared to car. It can take some of the sting out to stockpile tires from online stores where you end up paying $50-70 a tire instead of $90-120 like you do in stores.

Its not a big truck granted. But with the service I got an oil change, oil filter, cabin filter and something else I can't quite remember. Plus with the tires I had to pay disposal charge for the old ones. Only an extra 10 bucks but it all adds up.

Still cheaper than a set of XT brakes and a quick service on the bike.

I'm seriously thinking of going back to dirt jumping. :)

there are somewhere > 270 million cars in North america, I don't know how many mtn bikeĀ  but they are a niche market so you pay for that exclusivity

you can easily pay > 5 figures for a hot endurobike or top of the line road bike, compare that to the price of a motor cycle with an engine

So are the tires you got for the truck like the 2nd to best offering from one of the top tier tire manufacturers? Or were they just cheap tires?
