How tall is it compared to other brands 2.4/5/6 offerings do you reckon?

It measures just over 29.5" on a 30mm inside width rim. I believe that is on the taller end of the spectrum for a 2.4.

The only thing I have for comparison is a 2.4 Minion DHR WT in 27.5. It measures right at 27.5 or just a hair over. So including ttakingwheel size into account the xr4 seems to be taller. It's a larger casing in general, it also measures wider lug to lug even though the side lugs are a little shorter than the minion. Not that this is huge news, since we all know maxxis tend to be optimistic on their sizing, but that's the comparative I have handy.

Mounted up an E-13 the other day. Couple good rides on it. Impressed. Big love for it, as big as love for DHF's and Magic Marys.

Sideknob grip is tenacious and casing is Maxxis level lovely.

2.349" width at side wall

2.371" at tread

980grams...? Shit maybe it was 930. Anyhow, robust sidewall for the weight. Knobs alone look like they weigh a kilo.

Not at all too square on my 25mm rim, very Minion-like profile.

My current fave.

How does it roll? Heard amazing things about the e13 grip and horror stories about their ability to suck all the power out of your legs on the climbs.

I bought the hard ones. I only ride dry. Rolls quick. Center knobs are low, like almost Aggressor low.

It's just the softer compound tire that's slow.

I have the TRS+ in the rear (slightly harder) and TRSr in the front and they roll just fine. Maybe a tad slower than the Minions I was on before but really not noticeable. I don’t understand the complaints about them being super slow rolling. The grip is amazing though. Best I’ve tried, and as Hepcat said they are my new faves. My buddy runs TRSr in the front and rear for more grip and has no rolling complaints either.

If you want fast rolling I’ve seen they do an aggressive SS tire that works and grips much better than a Minion SS according to internet folk. Might be a good rear tire for the dry.

I've been running the new WTB Vigilante 2.5s front and back, tough casing high grip compound. Probably the grippiest allrounder tires I've had yet, but they roll slow as hell and wear out pretty fast. I just put an e*thirteen LG1+ on the front and I'm very impressed with it. Fantastic cornering grip, casing feels great, reasonably fast rolling, and best of all: cheap. $54 (US) apiece, compared to nearly $80 for anything comparable from WTB or Maxxis. If they perform well when things get wet then they'll probably be my new go-to tire.

I'd really like to try one of those new WTB Verdicts sometime. Probably overkill for my riding, but more grip is good.

Magic Mary's... Anyone like? Never tried them. Which ones are best for the shore? Looks like they come in a 2.35 and a 2.6 for a 29 enduro

I have 2.35 in 'soft'. Not crazy about them but a buddy running 'ultra soft' swears by them, might give those a try next but going back to minions is always tempting haha

The 2.35 Mary is of similar size as the 2.4/2.5 Minions. 2.6 Mary is huge.

"Soft" rubber is equivalent to maxxis 3C Maxxterra. Good for pedaling .

"super soft" is more like 3C Maxx grip. I wouldn't put that on a bike that sees a lot of uphill, but ymmv.

Standard Mary casing is similar to maxxis EXO. If you ride hard and want a strong tire, go for the "super gravity" version.

Which one of you losers left your worn out 2.5 DHF DH tyres leaning against the bike rack at Phibbs?

Seems unlikely due to the location but perhaps they left 'em for freebies?  My old place had lots of traffic so every serviceable tire I didn't need I left on the kerb.  Every one got picked up.

They were there my first trip over @ 14:30 and still there when I left for the last time @ 20:34.

Not completely worn either. I seen guys put bikes on my bus with worse. They were being run 2bliss.

I'm a chair-lift guy.  I've used them for three or four seasons of more-than-most vertical at Whistler.  They are my absolute go-to, especially when paired with zee Germans.  $45 a tire for my bike is where it should be imo.
