2.3 EXO Minion DHFs F&R on my Samurai all summer, usually switch to 2.3 Magic Mary's for the wet season

2.5 DHF/2.4DHRII (F/R) DH casings on Reign, occasionally dabble with shorty's depending on conditions/terrain/season

I pretty much never deviate from this, why mess with a good thing?

I love my 2.4 Conti TK's...best tire I have ever run....but their old sidewall, hookless rim issues almost killed it for me. I bought a few cheap(ish) ones from MEC as they were selling out their old stock, and I found that if you paint the inside with orange sealant they seal up to my hookless rims with no issue...been great so far.

I was chatting with one of the guys in my LBS and he said that the new Conti's resolved the hookless issues...but they made their 2.4's smaller wich I am not a fan of. I'll give them a try when the current ones wear out.

MM 2.6 on the front

What id of rim?

2.35's - Addix soft MM on 25id rim is actually smaller than Trailstar MM on 23id rim.

I got 2.6 Forkasters they measure 2.4 after couple inflated months. Look natural good on 30id Affect rims.

Above are "Speed" and no logo tread compounds, what was I thinking? I wasn't.

Got DHF/DHR both Exo Terra 2.6 look like they need wider than 30id but someone here say it works?

I think the DHR probably won't fit in the back of the Scout. Still in package.

Never put any Maxxis above to dirt. Brand freaking new! Might sell at low ball price if new 2.35 Hans Dampf with reworked tread comes in higher volume than the old ones.

Wife wants to pile 3 decades of tyres in the alley and light 'em up..........

Freedom of contract. We sell them guns that kill them; they sell us drugs that kill us.

do you shuttle or climb on the Reign? that's a lot of heavy tire! the youngest gun (also weighs a buck 50 at most) in our riding group has DH tires on his Reign and it doesn't slow him down to the top that's for sure. i gather you find it worth the trade off for how you want to ride?

occasional shuttle (few times a year), park once or twice a week in evenings, mostly climb, I hate fixing flat tires. I don't think I've flatted once in the past 3+ seasons on that bike, including a couple weeks of trans provence and finale, among a lot of other extremely rocky stuff. Maybe it's overkill, but the people who give me grief about heavy tires are usually the ones I'm waiting for to fix flats.

I had pretty shit experiences with Butchers 2.6's. Found the tread a bit weird (don't know how to explain it better, just didn't gel with it up front) and blew the back one out in short time. Ran DH (dhfwt 2.5/dhrwt 2.4) casings on the trailbike for a while, loved the feel but can't do a toonie on those things thats for sure. For fall i'm running dhfwt's in double down front and rear. Seems like the winning situation for me and i think ill continue on that, especially if i find deals on them.

Got a Magic Mary on the front now. Gonna try it tomorrow after running Kenda Nevegal Stick-E for years.

For island riding The 2.6 Butcher Slaughter combo is great for summer riding. Winter and Minion wide trail DHF 2.5. DHR 2.4 for winter riding.

For. My XC bike I run DHR 2.4 WT front and back. All on 30mm rims.

E13 TRSr front and TRS+ rear. A little slow rolling but otherwise the grippiest combo I've ever used. Especially super nice this time of year. I found the E13 2.35's measure the same width as Maxxis 2.5 WT tires.

For old fashion tires, I would have to go with the WTB Velociraptor. The beauty of the Velociraptor is, you can still get them.

Running a few options depending on the season and bike.

On the Chromag:

Summer - Butcher/Slaughter.

Spring/Fall - Butcher/Butcher.

Winter - Hillbilly/Butcher. All 2.6 Grid

On the Reign:

Summer - DHF 2.5 Exo MaxxTerra/Aggressor 2.5 DD.

Spring/fall - Shorty Exo 2.5/DHR2 Exo 2.4

Also on the Reign: DHF or Shorty 2.5/DHR2 2.4 DH casing MaxxGrip on separate wheels for the bike park.

Pretty happy with these selections after years of switching around aimlessly. All on ~30mm id rims, run tubeless apart from the bike park setup.

Kona Big Honzo. Currently running DHF 2.8 Max Terra front and Rekon+ 2.8 DC in the rear. I've read lots of good things about the Bontrager SE4s and have been thinking about switching to those for the winter.

Current Situation:

Hardtail - Dual 29 DHRII 3C TR, new tyre up front older one switched out back.

Squish - 29 Rock'R2 Magi-X up front, DHRII out back.  Going 29 Wild Enduro Front Magi-X up front and Rock'R2 on the rear for winter.  Have a Wild Enduro Rear 275 but found out the wheel I ordered is 142 instead of BOOST 148...  So no hybrid technology for this guy.

Assegai front and rear since beginning of August and it's the best tire I've run. They're pretty slow rolling and heavy though. Loved magic Mary's but the wear wasn't great. Had problems putting holes through specialized and ethirteen tires.
