OK thanks guys, I'll definitely re-enter my quote details, I must have ticked a box that said 'crack dealer' or something as my quotes didn't come out anywhere that reasonable.

Try the Meloche Monex site rather than TD. I don't know why but the TD website tripled my quote with Meloche for the same coverage.
So I've almost come to the end of my (1st…) Vancouver bike theft experience, hopefully picking my recovered, repaired and refurbished Pitch up from Dizzy's this week.
If I want to ride it during the week at all though, I will probably have to think about locking it in the same building it was stolen from last time, and even though I should now have access to a locked bike room, I still want it insured.
Who's good for bike insurance, specifically theft from outside the home? I looked at TD but they only seemed to cover up to $500 which isn't much good! (considering the deductable is… $500).
I know in the UK Marks and Spencers were the place to go.
Thanks
Call Meloche (1-877-536-7755), it will be less of a headache than the online calculator.
We also use them and have the platinum coverage. For 4 bikes, insured for a total of the lesser of 18K or replacement value, we pay under $200 per year [contents only though, as all other insurance is part of our strata].
My understanding is that the way that they calculate coverage is different from a rider. They view the bikes as listed items as part of your total coverage plan. For instance, with 100K of contents coverage, the 18k in bike coverage acts as a reduction of the total policy funds available, so the remaining contents are covered for 82K.

This.
Another vote for TD Meloche Monnex.
Hey guys.
Our longtime carrier for bike insurance has recently jacked up our premiums.
What policy are you using? I'm pretty typical: too many expensive bikes, so need a good policy that is reasonable.
Many thanks.

There are a couple of threads on this already, I use TD Meloche Monnex and I have been pleased.

Currently using TD Meloche Monnex as previously recommended by this board but their prices have gone up by about 20% this year. There plenty of good stories about their (relatively ) reasonable prices considering their $6k bike coverage (we have Platinum Plus coverage) but what are they like if you actually have to make a claim?
Specifically, how much have they tried to NOT pay out? Has anyone actually successfully gotten paid out for a stolen or accidentally damaged bike? If so, what was their process for resolving the claim?
I've searched thru most threads on this subject but there isn't much info about their 'customer experience'

Thanks for pointing out all these threads talking about bike insurance on your home policy, I've merged them all into one thread rather than having 6 discussing the same thing. The link above is the only one active now.
I can't help you with the customer service side as I've never had a claim and we use a different provider although I'm thinking I should get a quote from them for next time we renew.
I think my bf and I have TD something or other as well… But it's really expensive to cover the bikes. Craig, mind if I ask what provider you use? Any other ones out there with competitive rates?

I use TD for our home insurance. I've never had to deal with a bicycle claim but my wife had her purse stolen while we were on vacation in Edmonton a few years ago. I didn't even expect them to cover anything since were out of province, but I guess the insurance covers your stuff no matter where you are-your stuff is your stuff.
TD was top notch top deal with, friendly, helpful and they happily replaced everything that was her purse-that included all her ID, a few hundred in cash, her cellphone, some expensive make up, and her diamond engagement ring. We actually ended up coming out ahead of the game since they paid out full price on everything and I was able to some good discounts when I replaced everything.
I ride bikes, when I can.
