Northshore type don't work 'cause wifey doesn't have enough strength to hoist bike above her head.

So I start teh google search but any recco's for a decent unit that folds not to block the plate?

$ no object. I already got a 179$ unit on the beater but I won't let wife drive it because....ah, never mind.

Freedom of contract. We sell them guns that kill them; they sell us drugs that kill us.

1up or nothing, when it comes to tray racks. You can measure for yourself if it will block your plate. They have measurements on their website.

I use an earlier version of this

at $80 you can't go wrong IMO. The hooks hold each rim but does require a bit of lifting.

It's super compact of you need to take it off the car for storage, which most platform racks don't do all that well.

1Up if money is no object.

Kuat if money is a (small) concern.

2” receiver only.

Another proud 1up owner here.

Single will easily leave plate clear and you can add on two more to make it 3 bike capable.  I’d recommended the EZ Pull handle.

As a NSR-4 owner I just ordered my dad a 1Up for his 60th Birthday. Super Duty 2' Ano Black 2-Tray model.

1Up now has an add-on light/plate bracket if need be.

Sign up for the email waitlist.  I was about one month wait then it shipped within the week of placing the order.

Double 1up doesn't cover my register plate, also I can open trunk without tilting it. Got the add-on bracket for plate when I go 3 trays. Works better than expected in my case.

Yes you can add up to two singles to their racks.  So a single rack can be 1,2,3 or a double can be 2,3,4.

1up was pretty explicit that two add ons is the limit in each case.

You could measure and see if a double would obscure rack as some have mentioned no issue.

I've got a long wheelbase bike and my next vehicle will probably be a car so I'd be more likely to do a 1up tray rack. Does anyone know what are the regulations around width? My bike seems like it would protrude a solid 6" wider than my car on both sides. Anyone else run bikes that are wider than their car? How is it to drive?

^ are you in the Geometron FB group? Likely some photos on there of Gs on racks.

My G16 Longer 1300mm WB fit in ReductiMats 1Up.  There also is roof mountable trays but then you deal with undergrounds and the like.  Shouldn't be any issue with a bike being wider than the vehicle; see all the 1tons with 2 sleds on the S2S all winter.

Had a Ford Fiesta, so all the bikes were longer than my car. You can look in the mirror and see the tires buffeting at high speed on the Coquihalla from time to time but the bikes never worked loose.

Ive got a 2000 4runner and my XL Instinct sticks out a few inches on either side of the truck from my tray rack. I assume its quite common with newer bikes.
