I was riding today and smacked my ankles on my cranks. Now I want some high-top shoes for my HT.
I have the Specialized BG Comp MTB shoe and I really like the fit, but now I want a high top shoe.

I've used light hiking boots as in the winter, and high top basketball shoes in the summer.

The problem with ordering any shoes online without trying them on in advance is that it is a crap shoot. Most likely they won't fit right.

And for a hundred and twenty euros they better both fit and be impressive.

Tried a pair of those on while in the US a few weeks ago, the 110 model sole is hard plastic.

The Trail 120 SL looks like a possibility but the LBS didn't have my size and he told me that Specialized discontinued the 120 for 2010.

In checking the Specialized shoe page, he is correct:

Any LBS in the Metro Van area carry high top clipless mtn bike shoes?

Re: Northwave shoes from earlier in the thread

Apparantely there none in my size at either the BC distributor or the US distributor's warehouse.

They are shown on the Northwave site as a current shoe, I'll have to contact the Cdn distributor to see if they or the US distributor has restocked yet.

These are the only high spd compatible shoes I would use:

I run these and am very happy with them… The mid-top height is good for smashing your ankles against your cranks, but not so much in the added-support department. The uppers are lightweight and really good for ventilation, but don't offer much ankle hugging support. I had a big ankle sprain last year and had to tape up every day.

Otherwise, they're a good shoe. I'm on my second-and-a-half season on them and if I wipe the dust off, they would almost pass for brand new.

I have had 2 pairs of specialized clipless xc aand a roady shoe and they seem to be MY shoe so I am curious what kind of foot you have that they are fitting you ?

I got a narrow ankle/low volume/wider forefoot + perfect for the specialzied shoe

shimano was good in the toe but too loose around the ankle

I have a pair of Specialized XC shoes and they fit well. I prefer a slightly wider shoe. Only thing I don't like is the micro adjust system; the release mechanism sucks.

I have a pair of Bontrager road shoes and they are really wide in the forefoot. Bought it like that on purpose so I can wear heavy socks in the winter. Release mechanism is perfect.

Strange how some manufacturers make shoes that are wider or narrower than another. It's common in running shoes and soccer boots.

anyone have an idea who might sell Diadora shoes? Had something like these years ago and loved them, see they're making them again
