Just replaced stock hayes levers last night. After a few turns of the lever adjustment screw, it stripped. Now the lever is very close to the bars w/ no adjustment. Asides from trying to get some needle nose vice grips in there, is there anything else I can do. Can I buy a replacement screw?
Hayes lever adjustment screw
A dremel and slotted screwdriver solved the problem.
Hey great idea, thanks for the tip. Memo: do not use blue locktight in there to prevent self adjustment.
Or you could remove the lever pivot pin and spin the lever off.
My solution yo that problem was to to buy a set of Shimano XTs. Now I have real power, control over that power and tool free adjust. Might be slightly out of the range you want to pay though.
My serous suggestion would be to get a fresh allen key with good sharp edges and push it all the way in and then back it out. I'm willing to bet it striped because your wrench wasn't fully inserted.

Sorry to hear. Have you contacted the manufacturer?

Yes you can buy a replacement screw, but can you believe $22 !
As someone suggested always use a good new allen key and make sure its all the way in before turning.
Please let me demonstrate the ride around; really it's no trouble.
