Anyone ever try these?
Sam Hill uses them, does that make them cooler than they look?
My wife tends to clip her pinky's on trees more often then she would like. Her pinky rings don't fit any longer. Would these solve this problem?

Some Euro Trash EWS guys we’re running Aeserbis Hand guards a few seasons back.
I think Sam might be the biggest troll in the Mtn bike industry. 3 brake rotor bolts

Perhaps try moving her levers a little more inboard.
How wide are her bars?
Bars are 780 on one bike and 760 on the other. No matter how far in I move her controls she still likes to hold them right at the ends.

Looks like 6. Maybe trolling with the black and silver combo.

Sure but as the bars get narrower her likelihood of smashing into a tree should be reduced. My GF's friend had that issue and we cut her bars down to 730mm. She's much happier and the trees are safe again. Given that she's not a tall lady 730mm bars seem just fine for her.

Haha thats a great aussie accent.
That's hilarious, 3 rotor bolts on a DH bike. Not that Sam touched the brakes much in the Iron Horse era, what a legend.
I think I recall reading that Sam Hill runs them primarily as protection for the brake levers in a crash scenario and less for his hands. If a lever breaks off during an EWS the race would be over etc. and all that super important stuff.
Your lady - maybe really try chopping the bras a bit. My wife used to run 760mm, but after we tried 740 she is more comfortable and it seems to be more proportionate with shoulder width, she is more mobile on the bike, especially in steep and rough terrain. It absolutely depends on body proportions and also reach / body ratio imho. If the bike is fitting on the small size, she might not feel good with narrower bars?
If clipping a pinky, one possible helper would be the ergon GE grips. The end of the grip is angled so they glance off trees etc rather than snag. A side effect of that is that the grip's leading edge is slightly narrowing than the trailing, so when hand is one grip there's actually a buffer zone.
Alternately, or in addition, I'd considering moulding a tiny bit of sugru towards the end of the grip as a kinaesthetic reminder of width and hand position. I had a head and spine injury a long time back and used to struggle with the same (it's a form of what's referred to as neglect). I ended up riding in white gloves for years as a way of having clear edges I could pay attention to. It worked really well.
Ive decided hand guards are universally ugly. I'll just let her pinkies take a hit and stop buying rings for those fingers. She has one ring she can't wear any longer as the knuckle has been clipped too many times. Her old bar is narrower, maybe I'll put it back on and see if it makes a difference.
I’m surprised that enduro racers don’t use bark busters or equivalent in Mtn biking. But WEIGHT SAVINGS I guess ¯\(ツ)/¯

Well the guy that's winning the EWS regularly is using something similar.
