Not sure which question this is in answer to. Maybe both?
Ive been using silicone grips for about 5Â years. I've tried lock ons a few times since and after one ride take them off as my hands/wrists hurt.
Been using ESI racer edge mostly. Ripped a couple but only at the end of their lifespan. I crash about a half dozen times a year and rip a grip maybe 1x per year.Â
As for spinning, I average about 5 rides a week Year round which means I ride in a lot of rain. The only time the esi grips start to twist is when they should be replaced (cushion is all gone anyways). I don't use any solvents, just compressed air.
If you crash every ride or more, silicone may not be for you but otherwise - it's the maximus wheat thing.
