Glugging brakes

When under heavy breaking, as in going slowly down a steep section, my rear Juicy 7's make a horrid glugging sound like there is air or something in the brake. Do I need to reblead them or worse or is it just bedding in, Ive had them for a month and a half now though…

you might have a small grease patch on your rotor thats letting it slip
or it could just be bent

it couldnt be grease. He isnt complaining about massive losses in power.

Make sure your caliper is centered, the rotor is straight, all your hardware is nice and tight, and the pads are fully retracting with no interference with the return spring. Oh, and make sure your pads arent already worn. It's possible if you drag your brakes alot….

no way, a juicy 7 brake sounding like a dying turkey, go figure.

Eye on the TV
'cause tragedy thrills me
Whatever flavor
It happens to be like:
"Killed by the husband"
"Drowned by the ocean"
"Shot by his own son"
"She used the poison in his tea
and kissed him goodbye"
That's my kind of story
It's no fun til someone dies

I had some funny noises that could be described as "glugging" or watery noises from my brakes. It was because I bought cheap MEC pads which aren't made for dh/fr riding. When I switched the pads the sound went away.

welcome to the bottom of my post.

I've heard the same unusual sound coming from my brakes on occasion and I'm convinced it has more to do with hard fragments of trail debris caught up inside the caliper/rotor. Doesn't affect the power/modulation so I ignore it.

to me it just sounds like normal juicys, its just the break grabbing the rotor, atleast with myne when i breaking heavely they just make this sound like you described, they all do that

make sure everything is tight on your caliper and make sure your rotor bolts are tight

i have no issues with that noise. given that the avid's have superior braking power over the hayes its something i can live with.

make sure your caliper is straight. Check your brake pads as well. You can try sanding them a little bit as welll in a figure eight to make them flat again. What rotors do you have? Some of the older juicy rotors were notorious for causing noise/studdering.

That's a normal sound. Pads going over the holes in the rotor. Squeeling is what they do when wet.

Debate? Bikes are made for riding not pushing.
