Getting my 55 RC3 Ti to feel right

Any tips? I can't get it feeling good at all. I'm coming from an older Boxxer World Cup (2003 ish) so not exactly anything high tech but something about that fork just felt right. The 55 feels less "dead" (thanks to that harsh spike on the boxxers) but my bike feels wrong with it. I've got the sag set about right with the air preload - feels a bit notchy but this seems to come with the territory. So that leaves compression and rebound to play with. At the minute it kind of feels like the fork sucks things up well which is good I guess, but it feels rubbish for popping off of things - I have much less confidence on jumps at the minute. I assumed this would be down to the rebound but even running it at fastest it's not right. I don't even know where to start with the compression haha. I'm used to very simple forks with none of this to adjust, somehow they've just felt right straight away.

Could any of it be down to the fact I'm now riding mismatched travel with 20mm more on the rear of the bike? The head angle will also be a bit slacker and BB a bit higher due to the 20mm longer ATC of this fork.

I find any pressure in the air preload makes it feel harsh. I've played with oil levels and viscosity and got it set up great now. Once you find the sweet spot, it's one of the best forks out there. Way better feel than the Talas and before that Float that the 55 replaced.

What viscosity oil did you go to? I am dissasembling and changing the oil in mine right now. I just need to source some oil but I doubt any moto shops are open on monday.

I'm 170lb and run no air preload. I find I get I get reasonable amount of sag and never get close to full travel. I find the fork a tad divy, more so than my VANRC and running any amount of compressiom damping beyond 2 clicks makes it feel like it spikes. I wish I could get a bit more top 1/3 of travel support on this fork without making it too stiff. My rebound is at 19 of 26 clicks in and it still seems fast.

Try lubing the foam rings under the dust wipers. That could be causing a bit of your stickiness.

I seem to have misplaced the oil. I'm pretty sure I used 10wt with the stock spring. I used about 10cc less than it called for but it wasn't an exact science! I'm 195 geared up.

7 clicks from minimum on compression
Somewhere on the fast side of middle for rebound, depending on the terrain
No air preload

Take it to Naz and get him to tune it.

The 55 feels so good on the bike now, makes the front end 'alive' compared to the feeling of air sprung suspension. So much so that I'm replacing the Float rp2 on the back of my Enduro with Marzocchi coil shock. Hard to beat, or even match, the feel of coil suspension

That's what I've got, TST R with Ti coil. Just in the process of modifying the eyelet to fit the linkage and it's good to go. Pretty excited

No, TST R isn't good at all, the RC3 is a totally different beast.

I just got my 55 on my bike finally. Looks amazing

Only kitchen testing done thus far, but so far it feels super plush in the first 2 inches, then ramps up really steep there after. Cant wait to hammer on it.
