Gary Fisher "the prophet of MTB"

For those who remember the advent of the 29er by Gary Fisher, did anyone ever think it would dominate the bike industry as it has? I remember he used to predict that all XC racers would be on 29 in the future. People used to scoff. 

Look at us now. Boy that guy knew what he was doing. He also invented the long toptube with a short stem. Basically he invented the modern suspension bike except for the slack HTA.

My lasting memory of Gary was walking by him standing at the bottom of WBP between Fitz and the Gondola, looking up at the bikerX course in reverence. 

And this was easily 15 years ago now.

Buddy is pretty tall

he was the only person I seen at interbike  in the 5 days who didn't wear his name tag

the new 29'ers are a little different than his 1st 29'er
