FYI - NF Designs moving production to the US

Heads up to folks who've enjoyed NF Designs gear - it ain't made in Canada anymore. I've bought a ton of their stuff over the years because it's awesome and locally made - but they've moved most, if not all production to the US.

Anyone have any recommendations for Canadian alternatives?

Not sure about the others, but 7 mesh is made almost entirely in China.

Pretty sure that's true for the others as well. Canadian based but most products are made overseas.

That's a shame if the news about NF is true.

Taiga is still made here I think, and higher end arcteryx, but a small percentage.

This feels like a disgusting move, especially in the current atmosphere.

I'll say.  Don't bother coming back you're no longer welcome, NF.

Gotta hope there's more to the story here...? Hopefully?

From following them on IG I think they kicked off this move long before the current situation. Doesn't change them leaving.

Bummer.  Shitty timing for all.

Yea, I was pretty gutted when I found out. I've been buying their stuff pretty much exclusively for years BECAUSE it was made in Canada.

everything was made in-house then got locally sourced out. Probably had a tough time getting workers.

Buying local was one of the primary reasons I liked supporting NF.  I like their products but I will probably try to find a local alternative, especially now.

Saying that could be a bit premature without knowing why they moved production outside of Canada. It may have been for  legitimate reasons.

True.  The optics and timing are bad but the facts may suggest otherwise.  I'm looking forward to hearing the facts.  At that point I will adjust my reaction to somewhere in the range of sorrow and disappointment to anger and judgment.  ;)

sounds like a struggle to ramp production locally. demand outstripped the wee factory capability & finding skilled staff was problematic. i'm sure insane local rent was a factor as well. in ordinary times we'd probably be saying kudos for at least keeping manufacturing on this continent, however the times, they are not so normal. i'll be enjoying my (3 pairs) of vancouver-made pants till they fall apart (likely will be a long time), but given the current political climate, will be holding off buying US built NF moving forward. they'll probably do well scaling up the US market regardless.
