I have a norco six with marazoochi dropoff 4. I am thinking of putting rock shox recon 351 uturn on it. I ride seymour ( Pingu Pangor Corkscrew and cbc) and the woodlot. Just wondering if it is worth the money? Am i going to notice the difference? I'm getting the recons for $250. I've only been riding a year and i don't take any big jumps. I just want a fork thats going to be smoother. I hate to spend the money for pretty much the same fork. Any opions would help.

Look at the new 55 forks from Marzocchi. They're a scaled down version of the 66 that everyone has come to know and love.

It depends on the model of the fork, there are 4 models I believe over a large price range. The different models of the 55 have either air or coil spring and a variety of available adjsutments. Your best bet would to ask your local bike shop about pricing.

The 55 would make a great fork on the front of your Norco Six, and is the OEM fork on the Six Two and Six Three.

Recon is a low-end XC fork, prolly not suitable for anything shore (even if you are smooth). better off keeping whatcha got even though it's not a red hot fork, it's still tough. save your pennies for the aforementioned 55 (or a pike, lyric, etc) and get a tangible upgrade in performance.

i'm a big fan of the 36, a little more expensive but soooo plush
and i dunno about marzocchi's 08 line, they're made in Taiwan now by SR suntour, i would give it a year to see weather or not it affects the performance or durability… cause durability is one thing marzocchi had going for them

Those are good forks but way to much for me. Thats why i'm looking at the recon. only $250. some say they are an upgrade from the dropoff 4 and some say not really.

I just got a enduro pro with a 36 talas rc2. It is very nice, still getting it dialed
in but the travel adjustment and the ride are very nice. Still a little stiction but it
is getting better. Very adjustable, I had it in the 100mm mode and it felt like a
rigid fork, in the 130 (or 150 can't remember) it is very plush.
The big stanchion make it very stiff too. Thumbs up for me.

Stick with your Drop Off 4 until you have $400 to spend on a fork. I've always been a firm believer that if you're going to make a suspension upgrade, go with something top end. Either that, or find a good deal on a used fork that is/was top of the line.

+1 for Znarf. Wait until you can buy a better fork. The fork you want is the RS Domain or the Marzocchi 55 R - both of which will last longer than a Recon, fit your bike better and both will ride better than the Recon.

A good deal on the wrong part isn't really a good deal.

Re-read znarf's post, it's bang on.
