Amen to that.

3 hours spinning on a road bike on a gorgeous day is no problem - 15 minutes on an indoor machine and I'm done.

I've used the eliptical for rehab/physio purposes when I shattered my ankle in a crash a few years ago, it wasn't all that bad, you got to get on it do your regime and watch the pretty girls do thiers and bounce. Stationary bike, pffft, no way it even comes close to the real thing.

i'm a has been, trying to be a never was on the comeback trail.

Get your road bike on a trainer and get back to me. An hour on that is like 1.5 on the road. Constant resistance, no rest.

Again, all in how you use the tools.

Indoor trainers are good for cleaning toilets. People will do all that other stuff before they "have" to get on the stationary bike.

Debate? Bikes are made for riding not pushing.

I've done 2, and it isn't fun. At all.

2 hours on the road / trails: fun.

When you have two young kids at home, and busy lives w/ this, that, and the other, you need to suck it up and do what you can. I hate the trainer, but at least I can get a solid hour in while the Mrs. is at class in the evenings, and the kids are in bed.

I go on the layed back Lifecycles model at fW .
Go for an hour on this ,Hills plus program at level 14 ,says you are burning 700 calories in one session.
That's pretty good after some good deep stretching.
Or circuit training helps you with some stamina.
