GST/PST/HST all on imported new bike frame? Or should I visit the man?

Just GST on a bike frame. Full bike would incur both taxes (for some reason).

Gst + duty ~6% if not made in North America

Anybody ever order from Merlin?

Looking to order some magura trail sports and they have them in stock for a great price.

They seem to have a non-dhl option where duty is at your risk.

I've used Merlin, no problems.

(shipping all the way down to NZ somehow seems less hassle than to N America though)

I've used Merlin no problems as well, but they used to be my source for lower priced Mud Hugger fenders. However, they will no longer ship that product to us Canadians. Buying local is  about twice the price on MH fenders.

by a $1.67 and they weren't in stock earlier today!

Pulled the trigger anyway. CDN $303 for full brake set including 203mm Magura Storm discs.

Magura order from Merlin came in today. 2 weeks to the day using the free Pak Trak service that goes Royal Mail and then Canada Post.

Full order was $303 Canadian for 203 discs and full brakeset. Was charged $25 in taxes and fees which worked out bang on as expected. $15 in GST plus $10 in Canada Post fees.

Not super fast if in a rush but more than sufficient for my needs at this time of year.

last month I bought a set of schwable  Icespiker pro's , for delivery CRC used an outfit called Skynet, pretty quick after the order I got an email from Skynet telling me i needed to pay 20$ duty, had a bit of a hassle paying online (eventualy used master card instead of visa) but got it sorted and the tyres were here pretty quick in time for the snow & ice.

the icespikers have a stud  in every knob somewhere > 400 studs in a 29'er for amazing traction be careful you don't slide out  when you put your foot down on ice !

the duty request from skynet certainly sounds dodgy af; had to google them before making the payment. given the additional duties and the progressively dwindling inventory, not terribly compelled to use them any more.

The Skynet website is not secure either, or at least wasn't last time I had duty to pay!

Also, they're called Skynet! Who runs it, Miles Dyson?

It's beyond that, it runs itself now.

So just received a second order from Merlin. Hope rear hub in purple (impossible to find) and get this, an SLX 12speed rear derailleur.

Took about 18 days to get here but I didn’t get dinged any taxes. They don’t advertise their free shipping threshold but i would peg it around $300 CDN.

If you got time to wait and they have what you need Merlin so far is looking like a winner. The shimano datapoint is an interesting one too.

I've ordered from Merlin a few times and had good experiences. Sadly they won't ship Mud Hugger fenders to Canada any more. Their prices for those were excellent.
