Do you buy from CRC?

Did they cut you off before you placed the order, or did they contact you after the fact?  I just went through the entire ordering process, up until the payment, and it seemed to have no issue.

Which tires?  Did you set your region to Canada?

Ah!  This is super weird.  I added a couple of MM Addix Soft (orange stripe) and I get no such warning.  It almost seems like the bikepark and ultrasoft ones are the only ones that have this message.  I tried a few Nobby Nics and also got no such message.

Just got my shipping conf from bike-components.de.  Six pairs of Schwalbe Addix MM's coming down the pipe.  Another part of my order was holding it up.. I was afraid they were seeing if they could still ship the tires to me.

Have these arrived for you?  Experience?  Any extra fees?

Customs and/or CanPost needed to age it for a bit in their warehouse.

I fully expect to pay $10 + GST.  Should be arriving on Tuesday (was in Montreal post-customs for four days).

As an aside, picked up a blind bearing puller from KMS for $139.  100% bulk-Chinese made, but think for the number of times I'll use it I'll be a-ok.

Customs aged my small package for nearly 2 weeks. Unreal.

Got hit with $25 in fees for an $80 order. They put PST and some duty on so I'll be disputing for that portion back.

Should have gone with their tax-prepaid option would have had it quicker and for the same price. Oh well.

On the bright side Jenson's all-in shipping option is great and quick.

@Poz: Is Jenson still using UPS? They used to use Fedex (2007ish) which worked as claimed, just wondering about the boys in brown since they are basically gouging crooks.

I think the higher end UPS services are brokerage fees included, ie. Reasonable, no surprises at the door

Ya it's UPS but Jenson has a guarantee that the price you pay is what it is to your door. So you pay taxes upfront and see what the tax component is, no surprises.

It came to my door in a couple days. I travel to Texas for work every month so thought about shipping to my office there but after seeing the cost to ship here I couldn't be bothered with coordinating with my co-workers.

UPS Worldwide Expedited.  It is all in (what you see at the checkout on Jenson is what you pay).  I just had a package come a couple of weeks ago, 3 days from time of order and no issues.

CRC has been my go to for Shimano for years, but Shimano has closed a good chunk of the pricing gap.  To top it off Shimano is donating 1% of your LBS sales to local trail societies this year, so a reason to buy local if the price is close.

Is it just myself or has CBSA really cracked down on Europe bike orders? Three orders this summer have been charged the applicable fees upon delivery through Canada Post.

I think that's way too small a sample to draw any conclusions. In my case, only 1 out of my 3 orders from Europe this year has been taxed. Overall over the past few years, it's about 50% for me.
