Do you buy from CRC?

So against my better judgement, I just bought some 5.10's off CRC as my Vxi's are dirt cheap right now.  Bought two pairs.

There's a new DHL option that includes taxes/duties/shipping.

I'm trying that one out.

Interesting.  Two pairs of shoes (~$100ea) and ~$15 of duties/taxes/shipping on each one.  So $30 for $200 worth of stuff.  Theoretically you would be paying PST/GST on those (so $24) and the additional $6 will be the 'duty' (since shipping is free over $75).  That is saving you a bunch on the duty side of thngs.   It doesnt say anything about brokerage however, so that card is still on the table?  Please do let us know how it goes.

This $30 to DHL should cover shipping, taxes, duty AND brokerage.

At least that's how I read it.  We will see what happens...

My 5.10s from CRC last month arrived via CP with no fees attached to the order. YMMV.

BikeINN - not recommended. They held my order (which showed all in stock at time of purchase) for a month, and then cancelled the shoes since they were suddenly out of stock and refunded the shoe price. Rather than reach out, they charged me full shipping (it is a flat rate from them) for just a grease gun. I'm now in possession of the most expensive grease gun I can think of (well $30 more than the actual price) and it only took ~45 days to get here.

I then went to bikediscount - quick order, here within 2 weeks - no fees on ~$120 US order.

So, ordered Friday, delivered today, no additional charges.

We have a winner.

Will keep that in mind for next time.  Good find.  I guess its only worth doing if you think the items might be subject to duty (like shoes, clothes etc...).  For components there should be no duty, so I would guess the Canada Post option would still be your best bet?

Shimano parts are definitely often well below whole distributor costs from what Ive seen.

So here's my cost-benefit analysis.

Buying clothes?  Do this.  The odds are higher you aren't slipping by customs on clothes.

Buying brake pads and tires, don't need them for potentially a month, with the threat you may not get them?  Buy, but with un-tracked shipping.  I can't imagine CRC not crediting you the $$$ and they'll ship another out.  Time is your only enemy.

Need it in three days but half the price of locals?  Do this.

Not looking forward to buying tires from anyone next year.

If so, never, EVER NEVER use the DHL shipping option.

Sure you get it five days quicker, but they assrape you worse than UPS ever does.

I will take whatever action I can from here on in to bankrupt that company.

If I am buying online and DHL is involved its a no go for me. They are thieves, my wife ordered some household stuff from the states and the fukrs tried to double charge us for brokerage fees. After the hour on the phone with these wankers I finally was reinbursed the 45.00 extra. They know people don't have time to mess around on the phone so they do this shit. Funny how in their massive accounting department these oversights are never spotted and set right.

So, tires duty/pst/gst?
