Comparing the two, CRC actually seems to ship a bit faster than Jenson, but with the capricious uncertainty of duties and courier fees (up to $20).

nice use of the word capricious….

i'm ordering up these…

Last time I checked, the duty on complete wheelsets was 6.5%.

Just make sure it is still a 'good' deal from Jenson once you have factored everything in.

USD Price is $318.99 which converts to $417.88 CDN on Jensons site.

Then they add $29.25 in sales tax (which is actually 7% not 5%)
Then they add $39.30 in oversize charges.

If they add duty of 6.5% (lets assume it will be on the $417.88 , that is another $27.16)

All totaled you get ~$514 CDN.

If you order from CRC you are looking at ~$400 CDN shipped without any taxes or fees (which you wont really know until they show up). They also wont ship for free but assign a 'bulky tracked delivery' option that looks like it is probably DHL.

Lastly, CRC will likely take 7-10 days, while Jenson will be ~3 weeks in my experience

First package arrived yesterday with slip in mail to pick up from post office. July 28th to Aug 5th including a long weekend in there. Not bad.

No idea as to duties, levies, handling fees as I won't be picking this up till I return to Whiz this week. Will keep you posted though.

Got back to Whistler, grabbed mail slot notice, went to post office - big ol' CRC box with close to $300 of goods in it - boom - no extra fees, charges, taxes, handling costs, etc. Straight up "free" 100% delivery :agree:

Next shipment should be arriving this week. Will keep y'all posted.

Had $350 worth of random item, so I broke my orders up into 3.

Processed at the same time, one came in 4 days, 2nd in 6, 3rd 2weeks later with GST and $9.95 handling fee.

Post office clerk (parkgate) says bike parts are the most likely to get dinged. No rhyme or reason for it.

[QUOTE=cerealkilla';2923864]Jenson is clear…no surprise bills. Their shipping system guarantees the quoted price to your door. Don't forget, complete wheel sets (unlike wheel parts) have duty applied.

Jensen charges (or used to charge) 7% PST (bike components are PST exempt in BC, except complete bikes and complete wheels). If you are spending hundreds/thousands its probably worth it if you file a CRA claim for PST reimbursement.

You broke it up into three as an experiment?

Yes.

Kept each order as close to $99 as possible (for the free shipping).

My order that was dispatched Aug.2nd through "regular international mail" didn't arrive this past week. Usually it's 10 days front to back irrespective of weekends. Likely coming this Monday or Tuesday, or somehow customs got their mitts on it.

Will keep y'all posted.

Seems to me you've done this before; but just in case - I usually get the "dispatched" email from CRC and then within 24 hours I get the tracking intel if indeed there is any tracking intel to get.

Breathe deep… All good things, all good things

I ordered a set of 7ipd pads this spring from CRC. Free shipping, tracked and zero fees associated with Post Office pickup(had me worried).
Previous CRC order was a few years earlier for a BS Der Guide. Got hit with taxes on that one.

Expect to pay taxes when an order comes through. $20 is the limit on Internet orders in Canada I believe.
