Dilemma! : buy new or used?!

I am in the market for a new bike this season and I am having trouble deciding whether to buy new or used. My budget is around $2500 max. Went to look at a few bikes today at Different Bikes in West Van. Tested out the Norco Shore 3 and the Six. The problem is if i buy new, the pedals, wheels, and tires will have to go ( the stock ones are crap). But i get life time tune ups free of charge from the shop and also 5 years warranty from Norco. Or i can get a used one with those parts already upgraded for the same price or cheaper.
Just need some inputs from you guys

cheers

You can get a way better bike used if you know what your looking at. The new Shore's and Six's seem like great bike's for the price plus you got warranty amongst the other good stuff you mentioned but you can buy a great used bike that still has a good warranty left on it for $2500 and that's what I'de be opting for.

WTB-3000psi, 80cuft Scuba Tank. Preferably with at least 2 years left remaining till next Hydro Test.

if you like the bike… the shore 3 just buy it..

its not necessary to change those parts right away.. change em when you break them

Find a good used bike.

If you know your way around bikes, you can tell what's a good price and what isn't.

Well, the shore 3 isnt actually that much. $1950 before tax. $2500 is just my budget. Do most companies transfer warranty over to the 2nd hand buyer?. I dont think Norco allows that

I don't think any company allows that.
The Shore 3 is a great deal, solid frame, good components. Buying a used bike you really need to know what you are looking for.

Buy brand new if you're looking for a bike now.

Or buy used from someone who works in a shop that sells their bike around october.

You might as well get a brand new bike - warranty and piece of mind that everything'll work good.

well it depends what bike you have now… because you might want to wait until the end of the season and that way you will probably get a much better deal in the fall

Been riding one for a few months now and couldn't be happier. All I've changed on mine so far parts-wise is a 70mm RF Evolve DH stem with 10 degrees of rise and a set of white powder-coated Deity bars. Stock rims, tires, and pedals as well (pedals are soon to be swapped out for some Crank Bros 50/50s). A friend has an '06 Shore One, and besides the build kit, it looks almost exactly the same.

For under $2000 and brand new, you probably won't find a better bike for the price. Also, you'll feel better knowing you are the first one to "abuse it" and so on……

I wish people would stop whining about braking bumps, they happen and thats why there is full suspension, man up ya posers…

sliding downhill is like sex or pizza …even the bad stuff is pretty good
