there's been a few experiments over the years, but the idea has yet to stick. with the recent success of long travel big wheel enduro rigs, it seems dh is ripe to follow. perhaps not a wholesale change, but i imagine large hoops would have to be faster on some tracks. curious who will debut on the wcdh first.

here's a soon to be launched production rig from alutech. not entirely pretty, but i like the sentiment:

So is the Fox 40 in 29 official then? The only thing keeping the Wreckoning from being a full-on DH bike is lack of a proper fork.

Nothing official from Fox. Neko's Float 40 arch arch is milled out to accommodate the bigger wheel, and there's almost no clearance with the Alutech bike.

I've been told under good authority that the 650B FOX 40 will accept 29er tires. So long as the rim isn't massive and the tire isn't similarly.

You can't use a massive tyre and rim but according to __ you don't need to.

Manitou has been making a 29er dorado since 2010 (http://twentynineinches.com/manitou-announces-2010-dorado-for-29ers/) - the fork is internally adjustable to 150mm or 175mm of travel. KHS was originally testing it out and it made to full production. A couple of years ago the now defunct Princepoint.com was clearing them out for US600 or so.

The gradual loss of the knar keeps me awake and night. Then when I do fall asleep I dream of ripping down flowy jumpy trails! :o

I bet you could mate a set of Lyrik 29 lowers to a Boxxer chassis…

I think the difference between 27.5 and 29 shafts are 10mm (ie a 27.5 200mm shaft = 190mm 29 shaft) so you could have a 190mm 29 "Boxxer".

Maybe Andrew Major and Bikeroom Jeff can come up with something for the front page of this site.

Tear down a boxxer and a lyrik, build up a Lyxxer

MPR Groove is also an inverted DC fork with 180mm travel.

That is a great idea. Andrew Major let's hear your thoughts.
