On the one hand I want to say 'I told you so' but on the other hand I'm sad because the playing field is getting level again.

Dirt Mag has an article from a few days ago where they're riding a Session 29 with 49 up front.  One photo shows the massive amount of tire/arch clearance letting us know that we're not in Kansas anymore.

190mm travel up there.  Be nice to see a long travel 36 29er as well, but I'd take the 49 over a 36 almost any day of the week.  The only hold up on this 49 is the lowers being cast and available to public.

Specialized may've been onto something back in 08 with their dual crown fork on the 08 Enduro SL.

This is going to sound weird, but wait for it.  Where's the 29er front, 650b+ rear DH bike?

I'd be curious to try one in Whistler. I don't think they will work well for bike park hacks like me, but I do wonder how the grip/cornering will feel. Also wondering about geometry, it doesn't look like as much BB drop in those pics as I would expect.

It wouldn't be legal. UCI rules specify that both wheels must be the same size.

Do we know why such a rule exists?  I'm guessing the legalese goes like this, "Well, cuz bru".

From what I've read, UCI Downhill is like Formula One and nothing but the Cutting Edge(TM)(R) for them.

Surely 31 is better than 29 though, right?
