For someone who rides as much as you do, you seem awful mad, and this is at 10am!
I'm not too interested in engaging into a drawn out discussion, but I'll ask where was the acceptance level of 29ers 5 years ago in the marketplace, outside of pure XC. What did the geometry of our bikes look like 5 years ago. 5 years ago we were all still predominantly on 26". So yes, I believe we did need to progress incrementally, including an intermediate wheel size, to make aggressive 29 and dh 29 a realistic and advantageous setup.
Nobody is forcing you to buy 29 right away, this stuff is only just being rolled out on the pro circuit. Will only 29 stuff be available in the future? Maybe 5-7 years out, maybe not. We can still buy 26 stuff today. If you don't believe in the advantage 29 offers, perceived or real, just don't buy it.
