impressed that it came to market so quickly. looks hot. should see a bunch on their heels for 2018.

granted, i'll probably not buy another dh rig, so this all affects me not one bit. just fascinating watching the evolution of the species.

I, for one, welcome our new wagon wheel overlords.

Can't wait to leave a brown skid on the outside of my shorts to mirror the one on the inside! o.O

These fork manufactures can fuck right off though.  Either release the 160mm+ single crown and dual crown 29er forks in BOOST 15/20 spacing or DIAFF!

Looks like the 29er Session will be available for sale this fall (frame, shock and fork for $4k USD, steal of a deal):

I dont see that as a steal of a deal considering you can buy a whole bike for that price and it will be better than you can ever ride it.

This is what is wrong with the bike industry. And they say there is no money to be made. Haha

Regarding my comment about searching for past articles on 29'ers for DH, looks like PB has already hit their archives to clean that bit of history up.

Anyways, this would have been much more palatable if they bike companies just came out and said, "DH bikes don't sell much and we want to reduce our SKU's, so suck this shit up.  All that crap we said about 650b was pure marketing bullshit and we really have no fucking clue what we're doing.  Sorry!", I would have been more supportive.

But so many of you are lapping this shit up.  Critical thinking people, it shouldn't be an option.

You can go back to 26" wheels, cantilever brakes, Mag 21's, square tapered cranks, and a 54t chainring then!

Mag21's?

Shit man, if you want a smoother ride, just take an easier trail!

Are you really drawing an analogue between different wheel sizes and canti's to hydraulic's?

Why didn't we skip 650b and go straight to 29'ers?  This "progressive" "technology" has been available since 2010.

Let's go find a trail.  You do the same lap ten times.  If you can rank them in order of slowest to fastest, I'll buy you 10 bottles of whichever craft brew's you want.

Are you really that worked up about this?

For someone who rides as much as you do, you seem awful mad, and this is at 10am!

I'm not too interested in engaging into a drawn out discussion, but I'll ask where was the acceptance level of 29ers 5 years ago in the marketplace, outside of pure XC. What did the geometry of our bikes look like 5 years ago. 5 years ago we were all still predominantly on 26". So yes, I believe we did need to progress incrementally, including an intermediate wheel size, to make aggressive 29 and dh 29 a realistic and advantageous setup.

Nobody is forcing you to buy 29 right away, this stuff is only just being rolled out on the pro circuit. Will only 29 stuff be available in the future? Maybe 5-7 years out, maybe not. We can still buy 26 stuff today. If you don't believe in the advantage 29 offers, perceived or real, just don't buy it.

Ride. Enjoy. Be happy.

I'm really only worked up over the feeling that this is what it must be like at a Trump rally.

Pretty much all my questions were ignored and the mantra, "progression" trumpeted onward.  Make America Great Again, eh?

So you're drawing an analogue between dh progressing to 29" wheels and Trump becoming the US president (regression actually)

Nice

Nope.

It's an analogue that the proponents of this change can only parrot, "progression" or "F1" regardless of legitimate questions pointing out the fallacy of both.

Not only are the questions ignored, but the "progression" and "F1" comments continue after they've been brought up.

If that's not straight up Trump territory, I don't know what is.

Let me know if you want me to walk you through it all.

There it is.

If you ever ride in Whistler, let me know.  You can ride my brand new bike for a lap.

I was being sarcastic :) And I think it's actually $5k USD for Session 29er frame/fork/shock. True insanity when you could get a pretty high spec YT Tues for $4,500USD or the world cup build for $6k USD... if you know, YT would actually deliver some bikes.
